Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

i just found this enamel shop that has lalique-style enamels. when i looked at some of the prices, they don't look high enough. then i read the guy's profile and he keeps referring to himself as "a designer". no where does it say he actually made the pieces like a bench jeweler. it's nice work but it's unclear to me what the deal is- i know enamelists who do this kind of work and they charge in the range of 5-8,000 dollars for hand made plique a jour and gold work.

I don't think I'd want to comment. You know....

Wouldn't know enough about it anyway.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Stuffed.

Found some beefy-cabbage-something in the freezer. Could not determine it's exact provenance, but given enough shitake and beef stock gravy I made fresh, it was delicious.

And sourddough bread from yesterday's market.

And orzo pasta salad with geriatric garden chives and balsamic vinegar.

Think I will crash and let my body convert the whole thing to fat for any potential future famine.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

It's a long shot, but look in the far back left corner of your freezer for a qt yogurt container labeled, "Rstd bf cbbg onyns".

Otherwise, I got nothing.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Nope, nothing like that there.

Going with a lazy day fallback, egg salad sandwiches, green onions, dill pickle, chopped spinach, paprika and pepper. I'll live.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Well, I like good soup, never buy it of course (shudders) , but it takes care and time to make what I like.

I do make a decent clam chowder, waiting for part of my sister's special order of BC clams. They're not available at the local Safeway - canned - but there's apparently a case coming. Neither of us trust clams that aren't from North America. Anyway, it's a favourite.

Do also like pea soup, and I think I'd better make some for the freezer.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Hi, guys.
On the reticulation, mix pickle with peroxide and soak the piece for a few minutes. That's worked for me sometimes, not always. But, as CG, I reticulate with sterling.
Do love good soup. In fact, I love soup so much I can eat canned if that's all that's available.
Marcus, do hope you celebrated for M. He loves Grants scotch, so have several for him.

Marcus you are a brave man- I spend too many yrs in hospitals to trust any food in the fridge more than 4 days!

Thanks Sue and Kit- I think I haven't heated it enough if you do 7 or more times. Back at it tomorrow with the H2O2 as a back up.

I just looked. No such luck.

I do, however, have two large containers of pea soup.
(Which I detest)
It's nice when my hubby cooks and freezes stuff, but when he does that I unfortunately don't get to choose the recipe.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

Just kidding. There are a few foods I don't care for and the standard response, say from avocado aficianados, is 'maybe you just haven't had good ones'.

No, I just don't like the taste. As odd as that may be.

Re: Jumping into June - Chat Thread

ok, i have to say just for the record, that i may be one of the best soup makers out there. period. i can make a pea soup that will knock your socks off susan. soups and desserts are my specialties although i'm a very good all round cook. my secret ingredient for my pea soup is rosemary and very good bacon. i usually stir in creme fraiche and/or float homemade parmesan croutons in it too. i'll convert you, give me a chance :)
