Shop Critiques are a great way to give and receive tangible, specific advice.

1) Post your shop address

2) Let us know what you'd like us to focus on (i.e. - photos, description, titles, etc)

3) Be prepared to have a conversation to fully understand critiques and reasoning

4) Be direct, specific, and focus on item being discussed

5) Make suggestions for improvement

6) As always, be kind and be sure to compliment something too.

Re: Shop Critiques

Hi!  www.etsy.com/shop/AMailys   is my shop and I'm always looking at ways to improve my shop, listings, and photos.  Any advice will be welcome.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Shop Critiques

@AMailys Here are some ideas:

1) SHOP: Overall, your shop looks great.  Maybe add some personal/workshop images to your bio.  That attracts a lot of attention.

2) LISTINGS: Overall, listings look good.  Personally, I would adjust the descriptions a bit by rearranging the order of the description.

3) PHOTOS: Overall, your photos look good.  They look like your items.  You have several vantage points.  Maybe using outdoor sunlight/LED light would boost their vibrancy.

With over 2,600+ sales, we should be asking you for advice.  What is the biggest mistake most shops make?

Re: Shop Critiques

Thanks for the critique, Mike!  I would say photos are the biggest mistakes.  Usually, the photo is so busy with decor items that it takes away from the actual item.  Photos are still the hardest for me to make appealing to the eye.  Photo item from all sides and have a detailed description.

Re: Shop Critiques

@AMailys I tend to agree with you about photos. Humans are such visual creatures.  So, it's important to make it visually appealing.

Re: Shop Critiques

I'm waiting for your criticism about my store, I used Facebook ads, Instagram ads and Etsy ads as marketing options, but I couldn't get any results. @MikeKrausArt @AMailys

Re: Shop Critiques

@AltunparsWoodArts Your store looks beautiful.  I believe you're correct that you have a marketing problem.  I've paid for ads too and found them ineffective.  But, here's the template I use to sell my items:

The key to marketing is answering these questions:

1) Who are my customers?
  • How old are they?
  • What gender?
  • What are my customer's interests?
  • Where do they live?
  • Are they educated?
  • What kind of jobs do they have?

2) Where can I find my customers?  Are they on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, elsewhere?

3) How does my product help my customers?

Once you know the answers to these questions, you'll know what to do and where.

Re: Shop Critiques

@AltunparsWoodArts

Your shop is nice, and I like how your banner shows the different items that your shop contains.  Your titles are precise and to the point.  I might just rearrange them a little, so the same word doesn't start each title on certain items.

I found that paying for ads was not effective for me.  It seemed like I just lost the money and didn't receive any sales.  I feel that the more teams you join and participate in the threads is the way to make sales.  It gets your items out there to a lot of different people.   Usually if I get over 100 views than I'm making a sale.  Do both the view and heart threads that your team offers.

I hope this helps.  I really love your hanging shelves in your shop.

Do you have any threads or teams you suggest? And in which platform, Facebook or Instagram etc?

Re: Shop Critiques

@MikeKrausArt  My customers are young adults, usually between 18-50 years old, people who are looking for personalized items. I've tried everything, ads from Instagram, Facebook. It didn't work. And my followers are so low in Instagram. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: Shop Critiques

@AltunparsWoodArts Here are a couple of very active Facebook groups that may help:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1934458910278595

This is historically a slow time of year for sales.  Personally, I focus on making new pieces right now.  And about 75-80% of sales occur during the holiday season (October - December)

Re: Shop Critiques

@MagicallyoursShop Your titles are fine.  You can add a bit to them if you like to get more attention. I suggest using a template like

template:

shirt title (item description) by Magically Yours Shop - descriptive words

example:

Keep Going Keep Growing (t-shirt) by Magically Yours Shop - green fashion summer woman gratitude

Hello, this is my Etsy shop.
I'm still a new seller.
I sell digital products like design templates, and there are also some that are ready for immediate printing.

I'd love to know what people think about my shop and the digital items I'm selling, and what I need to do to get my first sale. Thanks!

Re: Shop Critiques

I would like feedback on my recent Etsy shop: https://prettypyy.etsy.com

I would appreciate suggestions regarding tags. I notice that it's relatively difficult for me to describe my style in a search engine-friendly way. It would be fun to hear how you would describe my products. Additionally, is there any room for improvement otherwise?

Otherwise, your shop looks great.  I suggest that you keep doing what you're doing.  More items = more traffic = more sales.  And this will be very important as we enter the holiday season (October - December)
