Thank you. I'd like to get more portrait commissions here and selling any of the art prints would be great. I've sold a few but, I had a lot of cool tattoo designs that were $5 downloads and they made up most of my views. I originally thought they would help bring more attention to my shop but apparently Etsy thought that's all I do, the TATTo designs only sold sporadically anyway so I have since deactivated them all. Hope Etsy gets a better idea of what I do now ...idk. My best seller has been my $20 digital houses paintings I do for realtor gifts. It's paying my fees but I don't care about doing them. Any advice?

@ArtInstantly Sounds like you're a bit of a victim of your own success.  I can see why the tattoos and house paintings were very popular.  They are beautiful and very affordable.  A commission for $200-$676 is a very different product.  

Personally, I find metaphors and comparisons helpful.  So, let's imagine you're art is Toyota cars.

Low end affordable - Corolla - tattoos and house drawings (sell more for less)

mid level reasonable - Camry -  Prints (average sales at average prices)

high end premium - Lexus - Commissioned portraits. (sell less for more)

Each one of these "cars" requires a different marketing plan because they appeal to different people for completely different reasons.  Here's a quick and simple template I've come up with:

1) Who are my customers (who want commissioned portraits, prints, tattoos/house drawings)?

• How old are they?
• What gender?
• What are my customer's interests?
• Where do they live?
• Are they educated?
• What kind of jobs do they have?

2) Where can I find my customers?  Are they on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, elsewhere?  

3) How does my product help my customers?

Once you know the answers to these questions, you'll know what to do and where.

My name is Christina and I’m from Beautiful British Columbia in Canada. I’m A mom of 3 little ones and work at the Hospital so I keep very busy! In my spare time I like to do my art projects and I’ve been making Octopus sculptures for the last few years, selling them local. I live on the Pacific Ocean so anything sea related is very popular. I tried selling on Etsy a few years ago but gave up after a week because I had 0 views or clicks and I could sell much faster to  local customers. You do need to find a way to attract your customers to your shop on Etsy.  Just like at a show or if you had a brick-and-mortar store.  Sometimes that requires paid advertising.  Sometimes, it could be having a social media page and connecting with other shops.  We have lots of activities that can help you here on our forum at: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/bd-p/10723

I do suggest having a marketing plan for different activities for your business.  It doesn't have to be complicated.  Here's what I use"

1) Who are my customers?

• What gender?
• What are my customer's interests?

Hello Etsy family! My name is Virginia, I am from San Francisco, Ca. I am a licensed dental assistant by trade. Ever since I lost my father in December of 2020, I not only have gone through some difficult times but I have also changed in many ways. I lost a lot during the pandemic but I also gained a little in return. Since, probably the worst day of my life I've felt that there's more that I need to do. Even though I love my career, I knew that that wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I didn't want to keep struggling, living paycheck to paycheck. I knew that I didn't want to see my sons suffer and go through the same struggles my family has gone through for generations. To make a long story short. I came across an online platform where they teach you all about starting an online business, affiliate marketing, etc. I can now proudly say that I learned how to design websites, I learned all about SEO, affiliate marketing, dropshipping and so on. I created a website on oral health but I couldn't seem to monetize it, then life started getting in the way again. Back in January I got laid off, the dentist I was working for just wasn't getting enough patients. That is why I am here, I decided to open my Etsy store. I have been open for almost 2 months now. I still haven't gotten a sale, I will admit it does get overwhelming at times, especially when I start feeling all alone doing this having no one to ask to check your store and let you know what is right and what you're doing wrong. Good luck with your sales! If possible, I would suggest securing a job to help your family float. You put a lot of time and effort in running the business, to have no output is frustrating. I myself have two projects: I am working on illustrating a book, and my second project is Etsy. In this way, I spend half (or more) of available time to work on my shop, but I don't frustrate, as my other project moves on. It is very individual, might not work for everyone. My name is Aleem Ahmad from Delhi India. And my shop opened 4th of March 2023. There views and visiting people, in basket also but no sale . I have very natural pure leather and very premium quality. Wallets and card holders. I have very small business and my family also depends on my business.

I really have very good quality products in hunter leather material.

I think my shop photos look good or maybe i did something mistake anywhere .
