hello all friends
My name is Gulsum. I am a Turkish citizen and I live in the art-smelling Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. I take walks by the sea in the magnificent view of the Bosphorus.
I am 23 years old. I graduated from Beykent University Cinema and Television. I am studying acting and I offer accommodation to foreign guests through Airbnb. I own several quality bag workshops. I am here to design and sell my products on Etsy. I wish everyone a healthy day.
@Arosebagg WELCOME TO THE ART TEAM! We're so glad you're here. The Beşiktaş district sounds like a wonderful place. And I'm sure your guests really enjoy visiting. THANKS AGAIN and we're looking forward to helping each other find success on Etsy!
I am Harriet Glasman owner of Spaceychic Woodcuts. I have been carving and printing since 1992.
I began this art because I did a linocut years before in high school art class and remembered how much I enjoyed the process.
Also my husband was into woodworking and had a basement full of wood scraps to do something with. It occurred to me to try carving. So I used an old photo of us as my subject for woodcut. It turned out great so I decided to keep it up. I do about one a year, have been in art sales and sold a few on Etsy. I recently rejoined Etsy. I am excited to show them and to sell to others.
@Former_Member WELCOME TO ETSY AND THE ART TEAM! What an exciting journey you're on. Looking forward to helping each other
@PatriciaCreazioni BENVENUTI NEL ART TEAM! Siamo così felici che tu sia qui. E sembra che tu abbia fatto un meraviglioso viaggio nella vita. Tanti bei posti. Non vediamo l'ora di aiutarci a vicenda a trovare il successo su Etsy!
Not sure where to post this so forgive me if this is the wrong spot. Just curious how other artists with original product are doing? Not digital but original works. I know I'm new, I know I don't have a lot of inventory and perhaps those are the reasons I'm not doing well. But over the past 2 weeks I have had single digit visits and views. I have 9 sales but those are all from friends and family who came direct. I have worked, reworked and reworked again on my titles and tags. So, just wondering if it's me (or my product) or if people just aren't in the market now for art. Thanks.
It’s not you! It’s the Etsy algorithm. I tried selling a few years back and gave up after a week as I didn’t even have 1 view. I knew it’s not my product as I was selling them really well locally. I just started Etsy again last week and I’m giving it another try. This time I’ve bought Etsy ads which are being viewed all my non Etsy ad items have no views. So. I think go get anywhere with Etsy you need to spend a lot of money to advertise until you get noticed
@tdemelartstudio I think there's a lot going on right now. Some within your control. Some that is not.
1) Ongoing Pandemic Issues - The economy is still struggling with labor shortages, inflation, supply chain issues, etc. So, that's harming shops in many ways
2) Cyclical Sales - This is historically a slow time of the year for sales. For shops like ours, they tend to pick back up again in April when people are looking to redecorate their houses.
3) Inventory - You can only sell what you have. So, to attract more people to your shop you need more piece to sell. About 75-80% of my sales happen during the holiday season (October - December). So, this is when I focus on making new pieces too.
4) If you're looking for more views, I suggest participating in our many promotional activities at: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/bd-p/10723 If you're on social media, I really encourage that since they are the most effective.
THANKS AGAIN!
Thanks so much, again Mike, for your suggestions and support. I know INVENTORY, INVENTORY, INVENTORY and I saw that yesterday because I posted something new and saw an uptick in views (small but still). As for the promotional activities, I've seen a lot of people who claim those are not useful and "fabricated" (their words not mine) are actually frowned upon by Etsy. But you hear so much and it's tough to know what's true and what isn't.
@tdemelartstudio Inventory is very important. Once you have 150 items, Etsy will boost promotion of your shop. And some other activities start to become more important.
As for promotional activities, how Etsy's algorithm works is all rumors and guesses. Etsy does not publicize their algorithm. And it appears to change very, very frequently. So, a "fabricated" promotion may be bad one month. But, the same "fabricated" promotion may be awesome the next month.
Personally, I focus on social media promotions. 1) Etsy will always love bringing outside views to their website. 2) Etsy has no control to help or hurt you shop. 3) Customers that visit your shop from elsewhere are much more likely to make a purchase.
I am in southern kentucky and grew up in northern Illinois. I love creating new things and inventing with different designs.
I have had my shop fully running about 6 months. I have many vinyl shirt designs and vinyl products.
Please visit my shop, let me know what I can improve and liking my posts!
Will do
@kenzieskrafts00 WELCOME TO THE ART TEAM! We're glad you're here.
And your shop looks great. I think you need to keep doing what you're doing. Creating and adding new designs. Looks like your earrings, Hootchie Cootchie shirt, and I'm Cold shirt are very popular.
And work on promoting your shop. We have lots of activities to help boost your traffic.

Hello,
I'm Lynn My I opened my first Etsy shop in Oct. 2020 https://www.etsy.com/shop/BLCountryCreations My Step- Daughter got me started on Esty she was on first and I love to make things. It is great way to help with income as My husband and I moved in with my mother and step father to help them as they have gotten older and there are things they just can't do on the farm anymore. I have just opened my second Etsy shop as well https://www.etsy.com/shop/LBCountryCorn. With doing so sales and visits have tanked in my first shop and I'm just waiting to gain ground in the second. That's a little about me and my shops. I hope everyone has a blessed day!
@LHnKMCustomCreations WELCOME TO THE ART TEAM LYNN! We're so happy you're here. And we're looking forward to helping each other find success on Etsy.
Lots of shops are struggling right now. Etsy's just reported Gross Sales dropped 4% last year. And they increased their fees substantially, which cause nearly 200,000 shops to close immediately afterwards. So, I expect some changes will be coming soon and hope that this will improve the situation for everyone.
Hi everyone! I'm new to Etsy and excited to start my shop.
Hi, I have re-named and re-branded my shop. I was getting traffic , but few sales, to products I threw in as extras and not the products I really wanted to be seen. I other words...zero relevant traffic. I'd love to have anyone take a look, thanks!
Clearly you are a talented artist. I don't have any advice for you as I'm new and still trying to learn. But I think your shop and products look beautiful. Good luck.
Really good paintings and very talented.
