September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

Upcyclers Monthly CREATIVITY Challenge:

Each month a selected shop (Judge) will choose a common upcycled medium, like a tin can, an old magazine, etc), and participants respond with photographed ideas of what they upcycled that medium into!

How to Enter:

On this discussion thread please leave a link of your upcycled entry.
Entries must come with a photo of your idea. A description or your thoughts are welcome, but your idea and shop will be share by the PHOTO LINK that you submit as an entry.
To post the photo a link onto Etsy’s discussion boards, you can do this a number of ways:
Upload the photo to a social media network... twitter, facebook, flickr, an Etsy listing, etc. Then paste the link into your entry comment.
You can also upload your photo entry on your own blog or website, and then paste the link into your entry comment on the thread.

If you need help with creating a photo link, please contact myself, or the monthly Creative Challenge Judge.

Monthly Challenges will be posted the first day of each month, and final entries should be submitted by the 24th of each month!

Entries will be included in the creativity challenge’s monthly blog post (published the first week of the month) and on our team’s social networks. This is a great way to share the upcycled love and promote your shop.


Challenge Checklist for Participants:
1. use the monthly medium to create something new
2. photograph the created idea
2. post a link to your photo on the monthly thread for an entry BY the 24th of each month
3. ALL submitted entries will be posted to our pinterest boards, and other in SM: pinterest.com/upcyclers/
4. ALL entry links will be featured in our monthly blog post, with some highlighted entry photos included as well.


Who’s the Challenge Winner?

We are all winners in this challenge! If you submit an upcycled idea entry for the month, then you are a winner, because all shops and their entries will be featured on our Social Networks and in our blog.

****BUT for the month of September ONE WINNER AND RUNNER-UP will have a mini ad on the FRONT PAGE OF THE TEAM'S BLOG!

Sorry everyone! I have been burning the candle at both ends, and am late on everything right now. Or early if it is monthly discussion threads. lol

I don't think it will be any surprise, but for this month the medium will be a t shirt. You can use any and every part of the t shirt. Nothing is off limits here. :)

There are so many things you can do to upcycle a t shirt, and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Oh this will be fun! I was so very impressed with the post on the Upcyclers blog about t-shirt possibilities...Perhaps I'll utilize my hula hoop for a loom....hmmm very excited!

I am super excited for this challenge. I made a lot of upcycled tshirt scarves last winter. I have a few new ideas. I might have to make more than one. lol Great medium @Luci!

Yay! I'm so happy to see everyone so excited!!! I have already started a new project, from the tutorials on my last blog post! I'm not going to tell you which one, but I am hoping to have a picture up in a couple days. :)

Stephanie, I love your t shirt dresses! They are so cute. And I love A Christmas Story also. So classic!

Love the potholders and unides!! Melissa, I have a good friend who makes adult undies from t shirts too! We go thrifting together. It is a lot of fun, but sometimes there are compromises made on who is taking home what t shirts. lol

I love to see how so many people are already upcycling t shirts. There are so many possibilities!!

Drew, I was thrifting today and looking for a hula hoop. lol No luck, but I am going again tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I will find one, because I really want to try that out with some bedsheets that I have. I hope you find one! I would love to see how it turns out. :)

I just remembered something I have been wanting to make forever with
t-shirts. I have been wanting to make a checkers board. I already have the lids for the checker parts (for like a year now....lol) now I need to go make the board. Crossing fingers I get time to do it for this challenge.

The undies and pot holder are so cool!

It was already in our shop, but it fits perfectly...a crochet basket made from t-shirt yarn. Basically we cut the t shirt into a spiral strip and pulled it tightly so it forms a yarn. Then you can use it just like regular yarn.
