'Bopa' here under another guise.
Thought I'd get a general chat thread rolling ... while we wait for the 'big chop'.
Shall we get our knitting needles out - like the women who surrounded the guillotine?! (seems very etsyesque!)
Hi Molli, You will probably read this in the morning now. I am really perplexed. I had a look at the 'Welsh Etsy Team' Members page and you are definitely not on it. What did the message that you received actually say? On this team (The Open Welsh Chat Team) I set things up in a way that makes joining instantaneous - new members that join this team therefore get an immediate message welcoming them to the team. With the 'Welsh Etsy' Team (where Artizen has posted her thread) , however , I think Acacia set it up in such a way that new members have to apply to join (as a means of checking that they are actually living in Wales - which is the main membership criterion on that team)) - and there will therefore be a time lag whilst Acacia approves the application.
It's all very puzzling. When do you think you first joined the other 'Welsh Etsy Team'?. We all joined in early November (around 6 Nov) which is about 6-7 weeks before you first joined us on the old forum thread. Did you join that team then - back in December 2010? If so, I can't for the life of me work out why you are not on the list of members.
I think I will try to get in touch with Acacia myself and see if she can send you an invitation link that will make it easier for you to join.
Hello again Molli. I also checked your profile for the teams that you are a member of. 'Welsh Etsy' isn't listed there either (though the other two Welsh teams are - i.e. this team and 'Team Cymru' ) - so I'm really puzzled as to why it isn't if you have had a message welcoming you to the team. It usually updates your profile immediately if you get accepeted to a team. Are you sure you didn't join this team again or Team Cymru? That's the only possible explanation I can think of. Very puzzling.
MolliMade says: SewMuch - I am absolutely certain that the changes to the fora happened after I first joined - and that i joined the new team when everybody moved over. ------------------------------------------------- This team - 'The Open Welsh Chat Team' - is the one that we all moved over to when the old fora disappeared - so that we could continue with our daily chats and include members from outside Wales ( as we had done on the old forum thread). 'Welsh Etsy' was established a long time before that (early Nov. 2010) for sellers based in Wales who want to promote etsy collectively within Wales. Acacia set the team up because, at the time, it was felt that 'Team Cymru' had fallen dormant (though I believe this has since changed) and we wanted to be part of a current active team. Hopefully this helps to place developments within context!
Hi Molli, I have just sent Acacia an etsy convo (I couldn't work out how to contact her via her blog - and I don't have a Facebook account). I have asked her to send you an invitation to join 'Welsh Etsy'. If you don't hear from her soon, please let us know.
Thanks very much indeed SewMuch. I wasn't on Etsy in November last so perhaps I didn't join - I had thought I had but I confuse easily these days - and I was getting so cross with it last night that perhaps I joined the Open Chat team again - I honestly don't know. Thank you for all your efforts on my behalf.
My head isn't with things today either - I was woken early by a phone call from friends in Australia - with the news that he has liver cancer. It is apparently operable - I didn't know the liver regenerates itself - but it was rather a shock.
On the other hand I ate lunch in the sun in the garden for the first time this year, with the birds singing - and it was lovely.
I just listed this new chocker necklace - hope you all like it.
One other thing - there are definite moments on Etsy when it is this group - and often you SewMuch, or Cariad - keeps me sane. Thank you - you are both gems. That is not to say that others are not - Teabreaks and Yonks have both lifted my spirits at times - but so have most of you. Thank you all.
I've done a bit of hunting around myself. I think I was confusing Welsh Etsy and Team Cymru - which I clearly am a member of. I have applied to join Welsh Etsy - last night - but have not had a reply yet.
Hi Molli. I was just about to post - you pipped me to it! I'm trying to watch 'Newsnight' and 'Question Time' at the same time as keeping one eye on Etsy! Thanks for your kind comments. No worries - I'm glad to be able to help. We all have problems trying to navigate Etsy from time to time! Hopefully Acacia will be in touch with you soon. Back to 'Question TIme' for a moment - then a stint at ironing --- then back on Etsy later!
bore ddda pawb..hope it's sunny over there this a.m.. we have visitors over from ireland so less work for me this week..nice break! hope the sun lasts for some luscious forest walks.. take care vx
Hi Molli.... sorry about the thread...I was only checking the private one and missed all the hassle you had... Ive had a similar problem in that I appear to be in 3 Welsh Teams [ two are the same team.. one is public one private]and I find I get confused re where we are having discussions..... I find the new team thing has fragmented everything and I feel cut adrift with the new UK front page.... I look at the Real FP then log in and get the UK one .. I dont think I cope with change very well!
It has been a beautiful day here in the South and is supposed to be nice here tomorrow too. Ihope that everyone is getting lots of sales... I hope to get some painting done this weekend and hopefull will list something later tonight.
Artizen - i sympathise with all the different teams and front pages and so on. I am still slightly confused. |I think the general chat is still taking place under Open Welsh Chat Team - that's where I go at least.
My problem was that I hadn't realised when people talked about Welsh Etsy that they meant a separate team, nut Etsy Cymru - which I had joined. At least, I think that's what happened.
Hi all. Hope you're all enjoying this lovely weather.
Great blog article anciens. It sounds like a beautiful place to live (almost as nice as Gwynedd!!)
Molli: I haven't heard back from Acacia yet either. I think she has a Facebook page. Someone may be able to contact her via that (I don't 'do' Facebook I'm afraid).. Perhaps we should leave it until the end of tomorrow and then attempt another strategy if we haven't heard from Acacia. If needs be, we could always have a discussion on the subject on a separate thread within this team or perhaps within 'Team Cymru'. In any event, I think it would be useful to gauge interest - and garner support - from members of Team Cymru too. Hopefully there will be sellers there who are interested in organising a regular presence at the Royal Welsh and/or the Eisteddfod. There may even be people on that Team who have prior experience of organising such events.
It's a long time since I have visited the Royal Welsh - around 25 years (though I have visited the actual showground in recent years for other events). What sort of format does it take now? There used to be a Craft Pavilion. Is that still the case? Or are you perhaps thinking of booking a trade stand? Is it mainly crafts that you see there? Would vintage be out of place do you think? It would be helpful to know what the choice of format is. Some events/selling platforms are better geared towards 'handmade' - others to a mix of vintage and handmade.
I have visited the Eisteddfod more recently - and the trade stands there tend to be quite varied - but, as you pointed ot, there are additional considerations there - so it might be better not to try to run before we can walk, as it were.
I have held back from pasting any more comments on the other Welsh Etsy team thread until you are able to view them. My situation is also a bit 'in the air' at the moment - for a variety of reasons - and there is a possibility that I won't be able to attend either the Royal Welsh or the Eisteddfod (either in 2011 or 2012). But I'd like to be involved in some way if it's feasible. I'll elaborate a bit more on this when we are agreed as to where we should be posting!
