'Bopa' here under another guise.
Thought I'd get a general chat thread rolling ... while we wait for the 'big chop'.
Shall we get our knitting needles out - like the women who surrounded the guillotine?! (seems very etsyesque!)
I DID IT - I made my first treasury - and almost all of you are in it. I will try to convo everyone who is in, but it's taken me ages and it's 11.30 so I'm going to bed now. In touch tomorrow. www.etsy.com/treasury/4d49d9aa3d8d8eef684a3474/beautiful-wales
Lovely treasury Molli. I left a comment. I'm going to try my hands at doing one soon (promise!).
Congrats on the sale Morag. Hope it's the first of many.
Sorry to hear that etsy isn't working for you at the moment Teabreaks. Folksy seems to be giving you much more exposure - in that it's a smaller site and you can post images in the fora (easier to be seen there presumably). The art categories here are so saturated. Hope you stick with it though!
I just listed a new p[ram blanket - with a doll instead of a child - she refused point bl;ank to let us p[hotograph her! www.etsy.com/listing/67276957/crochet-stroller-pram-pushchair-blanket
Thanks for all your kind comments about the treasury. It was actually easier than i thought it would be after i discover how to use tabs - don't laugh please.
A quick word about vistaprint...their postcards are ok for business/promotional cards, but probably not for artwork type cards - unless the quality has improved drastically in the last few months. I have my giant business cards printed by them, and although they look very nice, the quality isn't up to greeting card/artwork standard. There are a few places to get that kind of quality - moo have good reviews.
I bought an A3 printer, but haven't had the time to get going with it yet !
Hi everyone. A nice crisp day here - great for taking photos. Congrats on the sales Teabreaks. Let's hope you're on a roll!
Hi earthdeva. I'm sure you're right about Vistaprint. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. However, considering that they were free postcards, I was actually quite pleased with the ones that I had done, using some of my own b/w antique photos (with shop url). They are fine for promotional purposes. Not sure what the quality would have been like though had they been colour.
I'm going to try stocking one of my other shops this week. I have been thinking of converting the other shops to sterling. Have any of you who have already converted to sterling experienced any adverse effects from that - or heard any adverse feedback from other selelrs? Most of my customers are in the US - which is why I have kept this shop in dollars - but it doesn't half complicate things when it comes to doing your tax return (as I have just discovered!). My head still hurts from all those mental gymnastics!!
sut mae pawb! i'm welsh born but currently living in france so just wanted to say a few welshie helloos... i'm from snowdonia originally... Dolgellau actually, anyone been there?? it's fendegedig...
notice you've been chatting about vistaprints... i much prefer moo cards myslef.. i think the vista cards can look a little cheap and cheerful...depends on your etsy budget at the moment i guess..but moo cards are very solid and you can choose whichever design/ photos you like.. think it's about £10 for 100....
hmmm sewmuch, would be interested in finding out about the effects of currency chnage..as most of my customers are from the u.s or canada...but the currency gymnastics are a pain..you're right..pain in the pen ol!!
Hi moraglloyds under my other shop.. just trying out a new idea in this shop maybe its daft.. tooth fairy pouches? hmm well we will see interested to know if you think its a daft idea or not.. trying to build up a childrens section http://www.etsy.com/shop/parkave
Hi all, I introduced myself on the New Members discussion and then added my blog to that discussion, finally stopped in here. I guess the time difference plays a part on posting, I will try to come back later and see if anyone has checked in.
Hi ancien and NewEndStudio - good to meet you both!
Yes, I know Dolgellau well ancien - I only live 20 mins away and my sons both go to Ysgol-y-Gader, Dolgellau!! Croeso atom. Da ni'n griw bach cyfeillgar! What took you to France? You have a great shop. I had spotted you before but didn't realise you were a fellow 'Cymraes'! Hopefully 'Faded' will be along soon. She's also from north Wales and now living in France.
I will check out the Moo cards. I think I just happened to get lucky with my Visatprint ones (as they were antique sepia from an image in my own collection).
Welcome NewEndStudio! My hubby has fond memories of beach holidays at Porthcawl as a child! Yes, it would be great if you could feature some of us on your blog. I'm hoping to get listing in my other shops soon. Maybe 'BopaJones' - where I will be selling Welsh vintage initially?
I'm sure the others will all be along soon to say hello! I'm glad we started this new chat thread as it's great to meet buyers and sellers with an interest in Wales. Hwyl am y tro! Bye for now!
Hello NewEnd ! I'm sure most of us would like to be featured ! :)
I'm tempted by the Moo cards...but not for earthdeva. I might try out the postcards for my artwork...at least until I get the fancy printer sorted out !
Hello to all those who are new... Im up late cos Ive just done a Treasury... featuring quite a few Welsh sellers as well as some of my favourite International ones... looks like the international section is closing tonight.
On folksy, you can actually post pictures on the forums...on etsy you can only post the link. It is nice to be able to see everyone's work without having to keep clicking and going to shops to view. However, I suppose that by going to the person's shop, you DO look at all their other work as well !!!! swings and roundabouts !!
