I finally got myself to get my own digital scale. Yay!!! Totally needed and is going to be put to work here real soon. I have a whole lot of things to do with it (hint: it has more uses than just shipping an order). It's going to help me make improvements with my shipping estimates, at least far as weight goes.
Now if only the USPS can make up their minds what shipping is going to cost. ;) First they wanted about $5 to ship an item, then a few weeks ago they changed it to $7.48. Now it's back to the $5. I have no idea what I need to go with for shipping estimates. USPS seems to be in a bipolar mode right now. Anyone else seen USPS go back and forth on their charges this year?
I havent noticed the shipping changes, I dont ship that often. But I have a postal scale and just love it! And buying postage online is usually cheaper than if you go to the counter. I print my label, take the box to work with me, and I'm done!
I use stamps.com for my home postage and business postage. When I have a package ready I just arrange for package pick up and don't even go to the post office. I know at usps.com you can also arrange for package pick up so you don't have to go to the post office.
I have noticed, after reading many postings on the forums, that many sellers, both new and old, do not realize how much money they can loose over time, by guess-o-mating their shipping costs. A good postal scale helps you maximize your profits.
