Hello,

Etsy is actively engaged in preventing scammers from targeting our community members. If you receive a suspicious message, please proceed with caution. Etsy Support will never ask you to provide personal information via Etsy Messages, such as your email address or password. Any legitimate message from us will show in your "From Etsy" folder.

If you receive a suspicious message, here’s how to report it:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your Account.
  2. Go to Messages
  3. Select the suspicious message from your inbox.
  4. Choose Mark as Spam.

You’ll find examples of common scammer techniques and phishing messages here in our Help Center. Read our Account Security Checklist in the Seller Handbook for more steps you can take to protect your account.

You have no customers.

Etsy does not allow you to cold call / contact customers who express interest in your products by favouriting or liking them.

Many countries consider this illegal spam.

Did you read the rules?

c. Communication Standards

i. Messages

With Etsy's "Messages", you have the ability to communicate directly with your buyers or other Etsy members. Messages are a great way for buyers to ask you questions about an item or an order.

Messages may not be used for the following activities:

  1. Sending unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations or spam;
  2. Harassing or abusing another member or violating our Discrimination and Hateful Content Policy;
  3. Contacting someone after they have explicitly asked you not to;
  4. Interfering with a transaction or the business of another member;
  5. Exchanging personal contact, financial or other information for the purposes of making an off-platform transaction, including phone number, address, email, social media handles, external URLs, instructions for money transfer, QR codes, etc.

You have no sales, so there are no customers to contact.

Are you getting messages from anyone telling you that you had a sale but they need information from you in order to complete the purchase?  When you go to respond, it doesn't go through?  Those are scam messages.

Were you contacting people to promote your shop?  If you did, Etsy may have temporarily revoked your messaging privileges
