refund problem

I had my first sale, went to check everywhere for the order (I only sell digital items) and didn't see it anywhere.
Checked the stock, and it was -1, checked my email and I had nothing, 5 minutes later, the stock went back to normal and my stats on sales went back to zero.
What is happening?

The client just downloaded my products and refunded? doesn't etsy have a policy for digital items?

What do I do?

Re: refund problem

If there is nothing in your order section of your dashboard, then there was no sale. It could have been that someone tried to purchase, but the payment did not complete the processing stage. This does show as a sale everywhere in your dashboard and the listing even goes into the sold out section, but nothing appears in the order section. Then it all just goes back to the way it was before like it never happened

Re: refund problem

You are very welcome!

It is easy to double check elsewhere.

Click on the finance section in your dashboard, select payment account and scroll down to recent activities.

All payments and deductions are itemised there.

Beware of message, claiming you have a sale or need to verify in messenger, they target mostly new shops.

All orders will only appear in the dashboard under orders.

Re: refund problem

@riasusama: This sounds like a payment failure. Have you checked the 'completed' tab of your orders and shipping page to see if it is there as a cancelled order?

In very simple terms, there are two points where an order may be 'cancelled'. The first is before the order is even accepted - usually an invalid card number or expiration date, insufficient funds, bad security code, etc. You could be having hundreds of those every day and would not even know it. The second is after the order has been accepted but has not yet been fully approved by the payment processor or the card issuer - generally flagged by one or the other's fraud detection algorithm and showing to you as 'pending'.

Digital downloads are often considered high risk transactions by these fraud detection algorithms.

However, even an approved transaction can be reversed. For example the card holder may have reported an unauthorized transaction.

Re: refund problem

thank you for your answer. I've checked everywhere, even where @CryzalisMasksUK said above, and there's nothing. I dont know. I'll just ignore it honestly maybe it was what you're saying, a failure on payment. It's just said because I was so happy with my first sale eheh but its ok more will come. Thank you everyone for the help
