I have 2 messages that I didn't reply to within 24 hours - 1 is a spam asking for personal information & 2 was a shop owner responding to my an order i placed on my personal account not business account.
Why would these 2 messages hurt my star seller rating?
I am a 5 star seller ever single month and this happens:(
Read the Star seller criteria again.
Absolutely both of them will effect your Star Seller Badges.
Spam has to be marked as spam and
All first messages in a thread must be replied to with 24 hours WHETHER FROM BUYER OR SELLER.
If you haven't read the rules, now is the time to do so.
@BlingTreats"Why would these 2 messages hurt my star seller rating? " Because Etsy says so. Don't intend to sound rude or mean, but have you read the Star Seller requirements? As it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such. Remember that the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads.
A workaround : if the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two if the original message was within the current star seller period (but not retroactively). Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
