item temporarily disapearing from my shop

Jump to solution

I opened my etsy shop a couple of hours ago and since then I have already received almost 20 scam messages from "buyers" and it keeps going. What is the most concerning is that it looks like there are even fake purchases. It shows the items under "purchases" category in my shop and I can see the amount earned. I received a message from these buyers to check my email and in the email there is a button to click "tap to validate", all scam of course. But it looks like the items are temporarily being removed from the shop. After reporting the messages the items got back to the shop but it took almost 1 hour. What can I do about this?

If you receive a suspicious message, here’s how to report it:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your Account.
  2. Go to Messages
  3. Select the suspicious message from your inbox.
  4. Choose Mark as Spam.

It is terrible that you are receiving so many scam messages and it is good that you recognise them.  Do not respond to any of them but do mark each message as spam as it will impact your shop if they are simply unanswered.

I have never heard of items disappearing before so I am not sure what is happening there.

@trixelsstudio  At least you are smart enough to know what they are!

If the purchase is showing up in your shop and then removed, it sounds like the payment processor received information the order was fraudulent.  They remove the order and place the item back up for sale.

If the order is accompanied by messages that ask for you to click on  a link or to confirm something, that is not Etsy.  It sounds like the scammers have found a new wrinkle but it was caught.

I suggest you finish your shop.  You have no shop policies so that leaves you vulnerable to such attempts.
