Hi, when browsing via Etsy I noticed that some listings are all black - first picture is not visible ... I jumped into my shop and noticed the same! Is there something going on?
I had a black picture in a new listing I put up yesterday. Went in & put a different pic in the 1st spot & it worked ok again. Didn't know this was a site wide issue.
I had this happen on 2 listings I created yesterday. After reading through some of these posts, I shrunk the image size (it was in RAW format) and it worked upon reloading. For the other one, I had resized the thumbnail here on etsy, so decided to reupload and NOT resize the thumbnail, and the black box went away. Not saying that is the definitive fix, but it fixed if for me
I have the same problem! At random times different listings thumbnails turn black, I fix one by replacing the photo then another one turns black, I hope this is not what the customers are seeing. It's frustrating. I don't think it's the size of the photo problem. These listings with the same photo have had no issue for a year and the problem just started last week
I reported it on Saturday. Since the rep wasn't' seeing it on her end she brushed it off as a connectivity problem on my end. I sent her the link to this forum post to show her that it's not just me seeing this, said she would pass the info. along.
This is an ongoing issue. Another blacked out first pic showing in listing BUT shop view of item first pic is so huge its only showing 1/4 of the item! Surely etsy's working on this? Who knows what the customer is seeing?
Yes, my SOLD folder listing manager is infected too. It has several black thumbnails plus a thumbnails out of focus. How can I relist items if I can't see what I want to relist. This is costing both me an Etsy money. I pay thousands a year to Etsy. Come on, do better!

After ending the chat I checked my phone and my husband checked his. It seems to be user dependent as my shop view on my phone, through Etsy.com, not the app, looked fine. Same Etsy.com view for my husband showed several blacked out images in my shop.
I would suggest anyone seeing this on laptop or phone take screen shots and contact support. Regardless, since no admins have updated this post in over a month it seems the only recourse we have is to contact Etsy ourselves.
FWIW, in case an admin reads any of this, this is not just affecting your shop owners. This is being seen on the Etsy.com website by buyers. My husband doesn't have the Etsy app and doesn't sell or shop here. He pulled up my shop on his phone and several listings are blacked out.
Thank you @PeoplePackages . It is definitely user dependent as my shop looks fine on my end. This is so frustrating, I wonder how many buyers are seeing all these black squares in sellers shops!
I thought I was going crazy! On my iPad, one of my photos is completely blurry. I rushed downstairs to my computer and it views just fine. What the heck?!
This is still an issue, photos being randomly zoomed in so you can't see the entire thumbnail, when I print my orders it is black boxes instead of the thumbnail of the item
Just got off chat with Etsy. I contacted them again as I wanted to update them now that I'm seeing this on mobile, which would negate the clear cache, internet connectivity suggestion I received on Saturday. Again, if your having issues please take screenshots and contact Etsy. The only way this will get fixed is if enough people provide them with the information they need to see that it's not an isolated incident.
Any updates on this? I really hate to add new listings until this is taken care of. How embarrassing. It makes it look like the seller doesn't know how to add photos.
I did the same and thought it was fixed, I then went to incognito mode and what a mess! Some shops items are appearing blacked out in Search, not just in their shops. Regardless, I wonder how many buyers are seeing this and just leaving, not many are going to troubleshoot Etsy's site issues. As far as the issue being seen on mobile, not sure how that can be fixed other then maybe rebooting ones phone? Again, not sure how many buyers are going to jump through these hoops.
