Etsy sent me a message which stated: " redacted by etsy security at Thursday 18th" and this morning there was the same message but dated to Fri. Does anybody know what all that means?
Sounds like a scammer. Was it in the From Etsy folder?
I have no idea what that means.
I looked up the meaning of "redacted" and it's says "edited for publication or censored for legal or security purposes"
Was the message in the "From Etsy" section on the message page? You have to use a browser. The new Etsy app doesn't show this "from Etsy" section. Kind of dumb IMO.
If it wasn't in that from Etsy section then it wasn't from Etsy.
You didn't reply to another message that looked like it was from Etsy did you?
LOTS of scam messages that say Etsy support, staff, Technical agent and either telling you there's a new payment system or a payment failed and you have to reverify your bank/cc info through Chat or asking for your email so the scammers can send you to a FAKE Etsy site to login and re-enter your bank/cc info so they can steal all of your money in your bank or runs up charges on your CC.
The "from Etsy" section does not have any messages sent.
Then those messages were not from Etsy and probably some kind of new scam.
If those messages were really from Etsy, they'd be in that "from Etsy" section.
When I try to respond/ask what all that means, it states that " the username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user".
@AwesomeVintageCorp: The "The username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user" message almost always means that the account has been closed (either by the person or by Etsy - in this case probably the latter). Just in case, try to mark the message as SPAM.
Real messages from Etsy are now going into their own section (labeled as "From Etsy") on your Messages page https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899 but apparently this is only true when using a browser.
It sounds like a scam and they want you to reply.
Edited: I just read your last comment. It's definitely a scam and Etsy removed the account before you responded.
This phrase "at Thursday 18th" doesn't even make any sense. Sounds like it was written by someone whose first language is not English--or perhaps written by AI. Either way it makes no sense to those who speak American English and the OP is in the US as is Etsy. therefore I vote for SCAM
You can frequently tell when someone's first language is Scam.
I’m guessing a spam message that was automatically filtered by Etsy to prevent access to a dangerous link. Send to spam.
I have that in many old scam messages.
They are messages from scammers who previously told you something, when Etsy detects them, they deactivate those accounts and puts that message "Redacted by security...." instead of the message the scammer sent you.
You can't reply because its account is already closed.
