Just wondering why a vintage listing for a childs toy dishes set was deactivated the minute I created the listing and went to post it ? I have checked all the words and nothing is off bounds or infringing. How do i get help with this listing?
Must be a word or words you used in title, description or tags.
There are some children's items that have recently been put on the list of items no longer allowed to be sold here (safety issues).
If it wasn't something on the list, a word in the title or tag may have triggered a bot since it was for a child.
It will be a bot, something triggered it,
maybe something in the heading, or description, or tags
only etsy can help,
Ivory, drawstring, tag, coin battery, amber - or a prop in your picture that has a word that the bots can read
Thank you. I used the word Amber, so I appreciate the info!
etsy needs to create a list of no-no-naughty words.
Was the tea set made of tin with possibly lead paint? Those sets were sold in the 1950s and 1960s, but are now considered unsafe due to the lead.
I did use the word tin plate and child set together, knowing that it is us adults who collect these items as they are vintage.
@PantryandPetticoats Some do collect but some have fond memories and do give the items to their grandchildren.
It's a toy and Etsy has that disclaimer so they are serious about guidelines for children's items
Check to see if it can be sold.
If it is made from ceramic it may due to the age. Anything pre mid 1990's --children or adult dishes most times were loaded with lead and or cadmium--both now forbidden (I made ceramics in my other shop). We even lost the ability to paint anything a bright red because to get the true red color takes lead-and lots of it. So even red paint was forbidden for use. The US forbids this and Etsy is US based.
What I found strange is they still allow imports of dishes, mugs, etc that contain large amounts of lead. this is one reason I avoid the POD mugs and those bought at big retailers. Mostly I am using the stuff of my own that didn't sell when all the POD's came on board.
I am betting they are "disallowing" vintage dishes for this reason.
Lead is bad, we all know the issues it can cause. However, even if you ate the mug/plate etc you would not get enough lead to hurt you.
I've had a couple of Corningware teapots and then a glass Pyrex teapot deactivated as soon as I listed them. I opened a chat help and sent them a screenshot of the listing sitting in my deactivateds (they asked for that the first time). They reactivated them later the same day.
Some of those Corning ware items were recalled due to hazards. You know the bots--if the word Corning was mentioned it got pulled! Apparently yours were not among the recalled so were reinstated. Good for you!
@ThePurplePuppy They deactivated them the first time I made edits too. I think they have finally marked them as safe since when I renewed one it wasn't deactivated.
@ThePurplePuppy Yes, for sure it was the bots. Not sure why they have captured Pyrex glass teapots in their net. The recall problem was a corningware coffee pot. It's annoying when it happens.
yes the words Corningware and pyrex were used . I will have to figure out how to open a chat with them , I am trying to figure out how to get hold of them .
How do you chat? I see no where to do a chat, I had a 10 year old listing deactivated as being " counterfeit" and it is a digital sheet of soccer balls, I still can't figure out why, but I can't find a chat feature anywhere
@PantryandPetticoats @KoolCatDesigns
A couple of times I was able to open a chat here https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests?segment=selling
but another time I had to send them an email from that same support page.
The Pyrex coffee pots that were recalled and the 4 that weren't.

Search is not coming up with tea kettle recalls. Can't imagine why they deactivated them.
Same thing happened to me when I posted a 925 Baltic Amber Cat Necklace. Didn’t even realize what had happened until I checked my email. Frustrating. They letter reactivate it at random. Still not sure why?
It was the word "amber"
The key word was "Amber". All listings with the word amber will be removed, even as a color description of a glass rhinestone, acrylics and so on. Use honey color, light brown or caramel color to describe the color. Good luck.
I have not even gotten an email to suggest why?
@PantryandPetticoats I didn't get an email for any of mine.
