why cant i just talk / email / chat w someone from Etsy ???? i just started, brand new, i have a question or two. and there's no way to talk to anyone....
Ask your questions here in the forums.
" and there's no way to talk to anyone.... "
and that's how they like it.
You could ask your question here. There are many knowledgeable sellers that may be able to help.
That's what the forums is for along with Help. Help has a great deal of information that can answer most questions. Many sellers here can answer questions.
If we can't we will direct you to use email or chat. THere is no phone number.
Ask your questions as long as it does not contain personal or sensitive information.
Even if you do talk to the someone's, they are a hired help desk type service and they are given a script to follow which may or may not be helpful or even correct.
You're much better off talking to experienced sellers in this forum.
Welcome to Etsy!
You could ask here on the forum. there are some very helpful, knowledgeable sellers who give good advice.
You do need to finish setting up your shop by adding policies,(gdpr, right of withdrawal policy for selling to the EU) Go to the Help section on your dashboard and click on "How to set up your shop policies" if you are not sure. The help section is quite useful
Good luck with your new shop
Yep, there are many helpful sellers right here in the forums. Try to choose the best forum option from the dropdown forum menu at the top of the screen (Managing Your Shop, Shop Critiques, Shipping, etc.).
There are many things you need to do to get your shop ready for customers, even before you continue stocking your shop. Policies would probably be the best place to start since that's legalese.
I do hope you have (or will have) more products to list! One item in an Etsy shop will be like a needle in a haystack (hard to get found).
Welcome to Etsy!
@MysticMoonworks think of Etsy as your landlord of a shop you have rented in a strip shopping center. That landlord isn't going to be there to hold your hand while you get your shop set up and going nor to answer any questions you may have. Yes, Etsy does furnish some things that you wouldn't have there like taking care of collecting the payment from our buyer so we don't have to set up our individual merchant account to process credit card payments. I've been there and done that more than once and selling here on Etsy is so much simpler and here we have the advantage of having the forums with other sellers who are willing to try to help. In a stand alone shop you are totally alone unless you can find a friend that maybe can answer some questions. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this is just the way it is.
appreciate the reply. not sure having a question means i need my hand held, but you answered my question about their customer service, there isn’t any lol. sooo, if the forums are where questions get asked an answered, here’s mine.
@MysticMoonworks Give them your business card.
type in the name with NO spaces, just a space after
MysticMoonworks and a space, hit return
then it says - find shops containing MysticMoonworks - click on that, and there is just you
...
or search in google
etsy shop MysticMoonworks
thank you. i did see a link that asks "did you mean MysticMoonworks"... it just seemed funny to me that typing in the exact name of a store wouldnt show up right away.
Or make a QR code of your Etsy shop and stick it on a card to hand out or keep it on your phone so others can scan it
yup, love this idea. thank you
@MysticMoonworks This is the way to go! Many folks (savvier than I) will scan the QR code and return your business card to you! Me? I'd lose it and never be able to find it again, so I'd keep the card!
For the direct *typed* way to your shop, use this:
etsy.com/shop/MysticMoonworks
But the business card and/or QR code is super useful!
mysticmoonworks.etsy.com
@MysticMoonworks: Definitely use the link format suggested by @DesertChains and be sure to sign up for Share And Save https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/1187231088945
I have business cards with my Etsy shop name on them and I keep running out ... people ask for them, I give them to people who ask about my shop and I include them in the packages.
The reason that even a slight name deviation brings up tons of shops on Etsy is because there are millions of sellers.
Good luck with your new Etsy store.
I keep a supply of business cards, and made a QR code also, I have my knitting with me most places I go, and get curious questions all the time. I have gotten a few sales, and met nice people along the way too.
