browser window that says “Verifying Device”

Today when visiting my shop using Firefox browser, I began seeing a browser window that says “Verifying Device” and then a green checkmark, then Verified. Then the window quickly goes away and I’m at my shop.  Same thing on the iphone in Safari. Just going to my shop’s first page. Searched forums - anyone have insight on what this is about?

Have you recently installed or upgraded virus check software perhaps?

Otherwise it sounds like Firefox security thing. Try Googling it.

Thanks, google just brings up the verification email scam. Good idea about the virus check, I thought of that as well but one of my Etsy team mates also has seen it, plus the same window came up on my iphone in Safari too so that made it seem more likely to be an Etsy thing.

The same happened to me a couple of days ago when I looked at my shop on Firefox. I usually use Chrome. I have no idea what it's about.

I have seen this same "verification" when using Google (Incognito Mode) and Microsoft Edge (Private) browsers ... I thought perhaps it was a security thing Etsy was doing because we "used" to be able to test certain things in our shops using these "modes" but can no longer do so.  Glad to hear others are seeing this green verification check screen too.  It would be nice to know if it is truly an Etsy check or if something else is prompting it to happen.  My devices are up to date with the versions and security checks.

I have it with Brave-just started yesterday. It only occurs in "incognito" or private mode. I figured it was an Etsy thing. 

This along with one of my 10 photos in every listing removed so the "no video yet" caption could be inserted. Etsy removed all of my shop disclaimer photos about vintage items...yadayada....lol! 

This morning many of us have no photos at all for many items or they show the vision impaired description we put in the thumbnail photos area. Fun Fun!

I got “Verified” in just a regular visit to my shop via my phone’s Safari bookmark. So just regular normal viewing too. Hope your photos come back though Deb.

Just noticed the page that says it's "verifying device" now has a big Etsy logo at the top, which it did not have before. Question solved.
