the buyer can edit the review if you have no made a public response.
It happens. Sometimes it's device error and sometimes user error. The buyer can edit it unless you responded.
@OilHerbAndMe Yes, I had this happen yesterday but luckily it wasn't 2 stars like yours. That's a bummer! A repeat customer left a 4 star review in error. She meant to leave 5 stars but Etsy wouldn't let her change it. I didn't ask if it was the app or desktop.
Your buyer was able to leave a review even if wrong, I've been told a couple of mine haven't even been able to leave a review at all, even though it's way past the delivery date allowed and after etsy have reminded them to leave one, I don't know which is worse.
Yes I didn’t leave a message this time and also copy the link for the buyer to edit. Now I am just waiting for her to do it
few days ago I had several 4 star reviews in a row on items that typically get 5 stars. I was curious also if this was some sort of glitch.
Someone said that for whatever reason for some people when they were leaving reviews the stars were getting sort of stuck on less stars and the buyer would think that they had left 5 stars when it actually somehow quickly would change to something lower.
Same thing happening with me as well! A regular customer left 4 stars on a few products she bought and she normally leaves 5 stars
Yes and the customer who bought mine stuff said somehow the review didn’t let her put more than 2 stars. I guess bad luck!
This just happened to me and I am furious. Clearly, an Etsy glitch. 2 star review, but the buyer states: "Everything was wonderful - didn’t mean to give less than 5 stars. I started to fill in the stars and then beyond my control the stars I filled in ended." I'm beyond furious with Etsy's lack of professional-grade software and non-existent support.
@RanchQueenVintage Not only is this awful, but it is an inaccurate Review. Not at all what the Buyer intended. You shouldn't even have to do this, but I wonder if you contact Etsy. Or if the Buyer is using a glitchy app for example, maybe they could try editing their Review and re-submit it on a desktop computer (or a device which is different from what they used). Of course, you probably wouldn't want to contact your Buyer. But if they contacted you again, you might share that info.
I'm sorry this happened to you.
Thanks, @ChillwolfArt ! A bit of an update... I reported the review and received an email from Etsy saying it was removed from public view. Problem is that this *solution* didn't address the ding in the Star Seller progress, as the damage to my rating is still present. I called Etsy's so-called *support* (useless) and asked this be be escalated to the tech department. I will report back if there's any progress.
Update, I had to literally POUND Etsy with time-wasting emails, surveys and phone calls to make any headway, but I did receive an email from the tech team that assured me the rating would be updated within 48 hours. Thankfully, they did indeed remove the erroneous 2 star rating from my SS progress. Moral of this story... do NOT give up. We pay enough in fees to deserve professional level support!!
I have had this happen several times. I get a rave review and only a 2 star rating. I have has customers try to change it, but it remains 2 star. I've lost my star seller badge because of this issue.
OP, did your buyer try to fill in each star one by one? That's the wrong way to complete the stars. The buyer should hit the fifth star on the right and then wait to see if it stays filled. You can ask the buyer to request Etsy fix the number of stars, but the request may not be accepted.
this often happens when customers try to leave a review using the etsy app. They are usually happy to change it once explained to them that the desktop site is required for it to work correctly.
this has happened to me today, I messaged my customer who said she would have given me 10 stars if she could but whilst using the etsy app it shut down and only left me 2! She is going to try and edit it
