Hi everyone,
I just noticed that Etsy is now showing how many years we’ve been on the platform, which is a nice touch—except mine appears to be off. I joined in March 10th, 2008, so this should mark 17 years, but it’s currently showing only 14.
I’ve reached out to Etsy Support and am still waiting to hear back, but I’m curious—has anyone else experienced the same thing or noticed a discrepancy?
Thanks in advance!
Monica
Mine is wrong too. I've been on Etsy since 2009, 16 years.
It seems that Etsy forgot to teach the minions to count any further than 14. Anyone who has been here over 14 years is stuck with 14!
yep same here
It makes me wonder why they set 14 years as the top marker. Surely it would have been just as easy to code real stats?
Funny, when they’ve sent out a load of emails recently celebrating their twentieth year…
Also 17 years (in another shop) but it’s only being recognised for 14.
I guess none of us are allowed to have been here since the start?
Did Etsy change their corp status then and maybe that's the reason? I've seen others mention this as well.
I have been here 17 years as well - but shows 14
2011 was when RoKali, ahem, “left” for the second time…
@TheIDconnection, etc...According to @Cindylouwho2, our knowledgable & helpful resident source of all-things Etsy, it is because 2010 is the year that stats were introduced. So nobody will show longer than 14 years. (I am at 15, but show 14).....however....
If you scroll down to your About section, the correct number of years should be shown.
What do stats have to do with number of years on the site though? The two have nothing to do with each other.
@TheButtonista- I have no idea. Most likely something with the coding of how this new heading is done.
Just passing along what Cindylou said, and she generally is a very accurate source.
Here is a link to that thread/explanation:
and Cindylou's posting on that thread:
"This has been a continuing issue throughout all of the shop home page tests and listing tests. Etsy appears to be taking the shop opening date from our stats page, which only goes back to 2010. That means all of us who opened before that will have the wrong date on some of these tests, but the correct one on our About page.
I tagged them on LinkedIn when I posted screenshots, but this is Etsy, so of course no one replied or - heaven forbid - actually fixed the problem."
To add to the posts above, Etsy was made aware of this and replied to a seller who asked them about it that "this is not something we consider a priority right now" or something similar.
IOW, very dismissive and probably meaning that this will never get corrected.
Maybe we should all just go congratulate Etsy on its 14 year anniversary, since accuracy with numbers doesn't matter to them.
Maybe it's 20, maybe it's 14 - who's to say?
I'm fairly new to the site and just noticed it due to this thread.
If they can't get it right for everyone, they should remove it completely.
I agree 100% I worked hard to keep my shop up & running!
I think just showing the year one joined is enough, no need to show the number of years on etsy (especially the incorrect number). People can calculate the number of years themselves. ahhh
Mine shows 14 too. I joined Etsy 2008. Started selling 2010. Math ain't mathing.
Mine is wrong too. I wasn't surprised to see incorrect info. Etsy often has programming errors. Since this issue isn't problematic with selling, it's easy to ignore.

Except when the occasional, potential buyer notices the discrepancy, it makes the the seller look like a DIPSHlT.
Such a basic thing to mess up!
Mine says 14 as well.... I've been selling here for 18 years. Kind of annoys me!
Kind of annoys me!
It is beyond annoying as it shows a complete disregard for OUR agenda and an astonishing lack of respect for sellers overall.
Of course, this is nothing new. To them we are a commodity that's rated just slightly above government cheese.
Mine as well! Funny -- I didn't even notice.
