Why doesn't etsy chat work properly???

No matter what time of day, when I go to chat, nothing happens.  There is nobody there.  I need something solved asap and I cannot get a hold of anybody at etsy!!

When you say it doesn't work, do you not get any notification from it?

I know sellers with SS status have access to chat, but I am not sure about others.

I am not a star seller and I have accessed Chat on several occasions as recently as Friday night Jan.31st. Have never had any issues getting past the Chat Bot to speak to a human support agent. Have you tried during the evening when there may not be as much activity?

@FreshLavenderDesigns  Is this about your star seller badge?  Are you able to say hello in the chat box to activate it?

the chat bubble pops up and asks the question.  I answer, then it says 

Let me connect you with a customer support agent. Please share more about what they can help with.

 

I ask the question again and hear from nobody.

@FreshLavenderDesigns maybe Chat is swamped since it is the first of the month, and many people wonder about their Star Seller status.  If you can generally describe your problem (with no specific customer info), knowledgeable folks here in the forums might be able to answer your question.

But I honestly don't know the answer to your original question, which is why Etsy chat doesn't work properly.

I know some sellers have had chat "stop" responding to them, That was because a prior chat the shop started wasn't "closed" properly by Etsy, so a "new" chat couldn't be started.  But I really don't use chat, so I'm not sure if what you're describing is the same issue or not.

Did you more recently use chat? Sellers who've had chat not reply, have gone through the Help Center maze to send an email to Etsy & simply say Chat isn't working, please close my prior chat so I can start a new one, or something similar. BUT, maybe Etsy is overloaded right now. The call back feature hasn't worked for properly for some sellers either.

if you have an ad blocker or some other software installed in your browser to filter websites or trackers, it may be interfering with the chat function once it attempts to get past the initial “why are you bothering us today” screen.

It's possible using a VPN could cause an issue too? I sometimes have to turn off my VPN when using Etsy. I'm not sure if it affects chat or not.

@FreshLavenderDesigns You can try requesting a callback - let them know about your original question and also that your chat is "stuck" - this has happened to me too, Etsy Support can send to a technical team to get it "unstuck": 

From seller dashboard: Help > Etsy Help Center > Selling with Etsy > (scroll down) Contact Etsy Support > Selling on Etsy > Finances and Billing > Payment Options > I still need help > Email or Callback

@thatregina This is a recurring issue for Etsy Sellers when trying to access chat - is it possible for you to send to a team to investigate, identify root cause, and fix across the board?

Never had chat.  It has never worked for me.  The few times I have needed Etsy's help, email support was enough.
