Why can't I see my own item?

Jump to solution

Hello, I'm very new to Etsy. I put a listing on my shop but, if I write the name I assigned to the item on the search bar in the marketplace, the item is nowhere to be found.
If I type the name of my shop in the search bar, I can find it and then see the item for sale on my page, but it doesn't appear in the search results. I've written the exact words of the name of the product, Etsy shows me 2 pages of results, mostly with a similar name as mine, but my own product doesn't appear.

Then I tried with the tag names, typing them verbatim: 10 pages of results… no sign of my product

I have looked with another browser and without logging in: same.

If nobody can eve see what I have to sell, how can I get any client?

Can someone help me?

You have very few tags.  The title is used by many other sellers doing the same thing.

I see your shop is indexed but as a new shop it will take time for your listing to move up.

With only one listing it will be hard to be found on Etsy.

You need your location and your shop policies as well as about page,

(I thought color analysis went out during the eighties.  I guess not from the number of shops offering it. I just thought it was long gone. )

@SoleColourStudio: It does take a while for a shop and / or listings to be indexed. But keep in mind that if everyone on this forum searched for the exact same phrase they would all get different results. Because of "personalized searches" you can NOT rely on anyone's search results to define how your listing is ranked. There are many many factors that affect listing placement and the relative weight of each factor probably changes constantly. Even exact word matches to your title no longer ensure that you will appear on page 1. Your listing may be appearing on page 251 and Etsy is only showing the first 250 pages to the world.

If you are searching within your own country you will not find it because you have not set your location for your shop.

Digital sellers are not obliged to add their location but you can if you want to and many buyers do like to know where you are from.

You can add it here.  Be sure to select from the dropdown for it to work:

It depends on what you were searching for, and what filters you applied. There are many reasons why your listing may not rank well, or even be excluded from search. This is not a shop critique thread so we are not at liberty to mention all the things wrong with your shop.

Read these:

Use the Seller Handbook, there is lots of useful information, including on the legal information to complete your shop.

and this is also a useful read (both pages):

You only published the listing today so maybe it's still processing. Your title and tags do not include enough keywords - it's all too generic. New listings start near the back of search and move up over time. It can take a couple of weeks for Etsy AI to analyse buyer interaction and decide where to rank your listing in the search results.

Scroll up to 2025.  Everything is viewable.  I am able to view my own listings, no problem.
