We received an email supposedly from ETSY regarding notice to expire listings that were inadvertently left active. We received it in our local email host service. Addressed to only one of our two shops. It was thought to be spam and that notion was found in ETSY forum. There was no such email received in either of our ETSY shops in SHOP MANAGER/ MESSAGES FROM ETSY. Something is not right. BTW. hundreds of listings disappeared in both shops. If this is all reality - why does ETSY not use their private messaging system?
@ImageChateau to clarify , YES the email was from Etsy
It is happening because Etsy fixed a system bug where listings were not expiring resulting in some staying active with no 4-month renewal fees. You can choose to renew the affected listings.
@NailMePressOns check your email , this is how Etsy are communicating this issue. If you didn't get an email you need to check your Etsy communications setting in you shop manager.
@lazydazefarm Etsy seem to be rolling it out over a period of time ( mine finally expired today )
There are existing threads discussing this here in the forum . So as not to confuse and or dilute the message it is always best to search for the topic before starting a new thread.
@ImageChateau , for the sake of clarity for all, please can we ask that you accept one of the replies here as solution. This will then move this thread out of the active list.
I just had to renew 83 listings that were NOT due to expire yet, which cost me over $16.00 total in renewal fees. That's HALF of my stock! This is crazy. I also didn't receive any messages or notifications on anything about this.
They took off almost 400 of mine. I don't know if I will continue.
My shop on the other hand still has the expired listings as active even after etsy telling my they would expire. I sometimes wonder if etsy really has a professional IT team to fix any problems.

@ImageChateau Etsy do not send important information to sellers via Etsy messages - that is for buyers and sometimes Etsy use it for promo/marketing. It is never used for support communications. They will (should) always email you directly.
Recently (last 2 years) Etsy messages have been misused by scammers - so I (for one) am glad that Etsy don't use it for anything important.
575 of my listings were manually expired. Of course, we have no proof if it's true. It's going to cost me over $100 to fix this and I don't have it. Etsy,. I"m so tired of you and your CEO's raping us with all kinds of fees and for not taking care of the people that made you multi millionaires. You really suck! Time to find a different platform to sell on
And every time those 575 items didn't renew you saved over $100.
