Verification Process not Working

Hi,

I joined Etsy just over a month ago, made two sales but can’t get my bank card verified.  The card I joined with has been replaced by my bank and now I can’t get it to verify and update on Etsy.  I have contacted Etsy support twice about this over the last couple of weeks and I’m not getting any replies.  If this isn’t resolved soon, Etsy will suspend my account !

I don’t appreciate being ignored.  Anyone else having issues with Etsy support ?

If you’re reading this Etsy, please arrange a consultant to help me with this issue, it is now urgent.

Before posting on the Forums, please check if you are not bumping an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in a while. You can do this by looking at the dates of the most recent replies.

Hi,

Thank you for replying to my help request.  I have been through all their documentation three times, in case I missed something.  It simply won’t let me update the new card from my bank and then verify it.  That is all I have to do and the software flatly refuses to comply.  I have tried updating it so many times to no avail.  Etsy has to intervene to see what is preventing the card details from updating but they don’t respond to my requests for support.  So frustrating !

Completely new  card or same number with different expiration date?  If new expiration date, you just change the date.

If a completely new card, add the new card, make it the default and remove the old card.  

You don't update.  You add the new card.  If I am understanding your post correctly.

I can't remember what it's called. There's a new layer of security with cards, that etsy isn't up to date with. And trying to use those cards on etsy, won't work. I think there were a couple of threads in the forums a few months ago about the same issue.

I'll try to google what it is and edit my post.

ETA: I can't find the threads, but I know they existed. There is a reddit thread about someone on etsy who can't get their card to work, and their bank has said etsy isn't correctly using/setting up the SCA for it.

Hello ladies,

Apologies but I am writing a reply to cover everyone’s efforts.  Just to clarify, I have a card for billing, there’s no problem with Etsy sucking money out of that.  The payment card was the one I needed to change and the card needs to be updated as there is no option to delete it and add a new card.  I add the information, save and verify and the small deposit that is allegedly supposed to arrive within 5 days from Etsy to enable verification, never arrives.  This is where I am and there is no workaround that I can see.  Etsy still need to intervene but they are not interested in providing support.

@CircularFashionFR  confused here.

The card under billing is the only card you are required to verify.

If when you say "payment card" you mean to buy on etsy, there's no way to add that to your buying settings, until you next purchase something. It also doesn't need to be verified.

Or by payment do you mean bank account?

Hello, I am having the same problem. By mistake I introduced  the wrong bank details ( from an old account) I tried couple of times to reach the help cntre and they reset my bank details for me to intoroduce the new one but still does´nt work. I can´t confirm my bank acount where i supousse to receve the payments from etsy. it is anoyng because already have a sale but not bank account to receive the money.

Yep.  That is exactly the problem.  The payment card is the card for which you wish to receive payments.  It needs to be verified, you don’t get paid without it and it won’t verify.  At least Etsy support helped you, I can’t get a rise out of them.  Disappointing and unprofessional.

There is no "payment card". As long as you have a non expired card in billing, you get paid into your bank account, which is your bank account number, not a card number.

Let me draw a picture….Go to Payment Settings…..once there you have 4 options……Payment Methods……Currency……Billing……Address

I have completed all of them, but cannot get verified by Etsy.

Receiving orders, paying for the goods, paying for the fees, goods are being shipped.

BUT IS ETSY PAYING ME ?  NO !  Taking fees and withholding my payments, not communicating with me, sounds like fraud to me, can’t get them to reply to me, disgusted !

I’m sure I’m not the only one as @Tiricutamba evidenced.

Community, please let’s get together and ensure ETSY gets their act together.

Etsy……great platform……lousy support.  Until payment received, it’s fraud.

Totally agree with you, having issues with verification and etsy took my money and did not refund!! What a scam!

I am assuming that you have been the victim of a verification scam where someone pretended to be “Etsy support” or a “potential buyer” who was unsuccessful in making a purchase.
Have you been asked for your e-mail, to click a link, to scan a QR-Code or to open a Revolut account?

If so, you were redirected to a phishing page that looked exactly like a legitimate Etsy page in order to clear your bank account.

Contact your bank immediately and file a report with the police.
You should also run a malware check of your devices.

We are not talking about any card but the bank accoutn setup to receive the payments from sales. Can anybody help ?

I solved it (no thanks to Etsy) !

Try this .....

Do your verification setup on your mobile.  That's it.

Although I had originally set up my shop on my desktop, the verification process would not work on desktop, on mobile it worked !  I just got verified.

It's obviously some kind of glitch on the Etsy end, which they should resolve!!!!  and not leave it to Community Members to try and solve, so they can get a gold star, I had that when I went to Primary School !!!

Let me know if it works for you, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x

@YarnGardenSG   Did you know you're responding to a 2 year old post? In current posts, no one else is mentioning Etsy took their money during verification. Perhaps you were involved in a scam with an outside source.
