I'm getting the following message when I attempt to reply to a seller's question/message.
'The username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user'.
I replied successfully to a message on Saturday.
It was probably a scam message. Etsy identified it and already deleted the account. What kind of message was it?

Asking if I wanted to participate in a vendor market close to where I live. Seemed legit to me.

@CharmCityExpressions they may or may not have been legitimate, but they were definitely abusing the messaging system by spamming sellers with unsolicited promotions/offers.
It may be that the message you are trying to reply to is a SCAMMER that Etsy has already blocked to protect you.
Mark as spam.
@CharmCityExpressions: "User Name is Invalid" advisory usually means that the account has been closed (either by the user or by Etsy). Just in case, you should make sure to mark the Message as SPAM (at last report you cannot do that using the seller app only a browser, even your mobile browser, or the buyer app).
"I replied successfully to a message on Saturday." This "error" has nothing to do with your ability to answer legitimate Messages.
It may have seemed legit, but the messaging system is not supposed to be used to send unsolicited messages. It could be the person who sent it to you also sent the same text to 100 other sellers and most of those sellers marked it as 'spam'.
There's also a chance it might have been the beginning of a scam if the location of this vendor market was changed to be ''close to where'' the other recipients lived.
