Since about 4-5 months I am experiencing troubles with logging into my Etsy shop with one of devices - a MacOS computer.
Every other device - two smartphones, an iPad, other PCs - it works fine.
On this one though, after entering login and password it asks me to prove I'm not a robot selecting buses/motorcycles/traffic lights etc. It was extremely annoying since I had to go through 5 or 10 of these every time I tried to log in. Ultimately I was always able to log in succesfully.
Today I went through 150+ of these... to no success. I simply resigned and marked my orders as shipped through a phone app.
The password is correct by the way.
How is this even possible? On other devices I never had to go through "I'm not a robot" process. Something is seriously wrong.
@PatandTed: "On other devices I never had to go through "I'm not a robot" process." For some reason Google and reCaptcha is suspicious of that one device and / or the browser (or browser settings) on it.
I mostly use my iMac and Safari to login to Etsy. I never get the captcha prompt. Try clearing your browser history. I was having a different problem and that fixed it.
I know the recaptcha may be annoying but in order to get by it, if it is asking for motorcycle check all photos for even a small piece of a motorcycle. I had one with crosswalks. I missed one because I didn't follow my eyes to the photo to the right of the one with a definite crosswalk.
Are you removing cookies each time you close down? That will give you recaptcha every time. I don't remove certain cookies so I don't have recaptcha hitting me too often. Only when I have an Internet problem or when I got a new device. Otherwise recaptcha free.
Thanks for all the answers.
No, I'm not removing cookies - this would trigger the recaptcha 100%.
Yes, I am aware I need to check ridiculoculy small pieces of boats/aeroplanes etc. in captcha. I'm not talking about one or two sets of those.
Everytime I login I need to go through 5-10 of these, and once - which made me furious - I went through 150+ and did not log in succesfully.
I'm not using some obscure software. Perfectly udpated Safari on a Mac. This should work properly, right?
One more thing - it's an Etsy specific problem. Not a single other website asked me to solve Captcha more than once.
Have you tried using a different browser? I use Chrome on my Mac Mini and I don't recall having to complete one of those Captcha things. However it's worth noting that I do stay signed in, so I rarely have to log in with my password.
I understand this has something to do with Google. I was using Chrome and getting the same thing every time I tried to sign in. Extremely aggravating. I deleted the Chrome browser from my computer and am using Microsoft Edge. Problem solved.
I use Firefox on my previous and current iMac and have had no issues with the captcha, and the same with my windows PC.
I have also used safari again on my previous and current iMac, and never had an issue.
Maybe give Firefox a chance, you'll probably get a captcha with the first login.
I have 5 shops I go back and forth, relogging into each one. Just today I had to go through these 8-15 times each time, with each shop! I never closed my browser. SO impractical, so annoying! Never had to do this more than once or twice before, now ten times a day for the same shop, same PC, same browser, same everything? And I seem to have a knack for getting them wrong. Plus there is difference between a motorcycle and a scooter, they are not the same thing. There has to be a better way, and no I'm not putting the app on my phone, it can't handle it because it's old.
*I'm using firefox
I'm having the same issue, so annoying. It takes at least 5 minutes tests to switch back and forth between shops. It's happening on firefox and chrome.
