Dear Etsy
where is my tax number in my Impressum?
Why did your programmers remove my tax number?
Please fix this very quickly, otherwise I will have to pay a fine in Germany because of the missing tax number in the Impressum.
Hi there! Rest assured that any information you previously entered into the seller details page has been pulled into the new open-ended text box. We can confirm that’s the case with your shop. This is the information that’s shared with buyers when they click on ‘seller details’ on your listing and shop page.
If you are still concerned that you don’t have the right details here, you can click ‘+ add more details for buyers’ and input additional information as needed. You’ll find more details about the changes we made in this post.
If you still need help navigating the page, you can contact Etsy Support through our Help Center.
Thank you for your feedback. As this concerns specific accounts, we ask you to contact our team directly via our Support channel https://shorturl.at/ijmpw
You are not talking to Etsy here in the forums. We are only other Etsy sellers
I hope Etsy is reading here. If not , ...........
Etsy changed the sellers details again today,
they think they fixed the problem from the the last time they "fixed" it, and then had to roll it back
they've still messed it up - they have removed it from your impression
log a call, tell them they still have no £$%^&*(UHG idea about the EU/UK, and to get their act together
@cindylouwho2 I know you keep an eye on this type of stuff
@thatregina you may want to let the "powers that be" know that they've messed it up again
@MichelleFShop you may want to inform, whoever told you to make the announcement, that they still haven't checked it properly, before rolling out this latest version of a mess with sellers details
isn't there anyone who knows anything in Etsy, about EU/UK requirements
this stuff is really basic ABC, it's not rocket science, just show the details, that the law says you have to
This is etsy's new announcement about their most recent muck up
@CraftyCornishMaids thank you!
I already started a thread here, addressed to Michelle from Etsy:
The USt-IdNr must be displayed in the "Impressum"! This is a legal requirement for all German Shops!
But it is gone again even it is correct in my details under Finance --> legal infos. It is not "pulled from this data and displayed proper to met legal requirements".
Please correct this immediately.
Thank you in advance.
I really dislike that Etsy won't hire actual experts - even on contract - to do this stuff, and instead waits for the seller base to tell them what's wrong. Shouldn't a corporation this big have legal and regulatory experts? This is not something you can DIY without actual knowledge.
Etsy has lawyers, that tell them what has to be in their legal impression
https://www.etsy.com/legal/impressum/
so why doesn't the left hand know what the right hand is doing for sellers ??????
oh look, their VAT number is there, for all to see, why hide the sellers VAT numbers????
@CraftyCornishMaids they definitely still have lawyers, but they don't seem to be hiring any specific experts these days. There are a lot of mistakes in the other legal pages, too.
Someone set that page up in 2016: https://web.archive.org/web/20160709062118/https://www.etsy.com/legal/impressum/ guess they aren't around any more
; - )
I believe "DIY without actual knowledge" is in every Etsy job opportunity advert.

The VAT number used to be pulled from the legal page and displayed, it wasn't entered by the seller into sellers details
The seller's VAT registration number is still missing from Seller Details.
In the UK the legal requirement for sellers to display their VAT registration number is in The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002, Regulation 6.1.g.
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/2013/regulation/6
That was the UK implementation of EU Directive 2000/31/EC, Article 5 item 1.g.
The requirement to display the VAT number should therefore be common across all EU countries.
And while you are on that page of UK the law, . . .
Note that the next item of regulation 6 of that UK law is:
(2) Where a person providing an information society service refers to prices, these shall be indicated clearly and unambiguously and, in particular, shall indicate whether they are inclusive of tax and delivery costs.
So Etsy's unclear and ambiguous text on listing pages that local taxes are included "where applicable" without clearly specifying that they are, or are not, included (when in fact they are not, or are, included respectively) is clearly and unambiguously an offence in the UK.

I checked,
yours used to be there, it is no longer
you have had to resort to putting it in FAQ's, which is a disgrace
Etsy removed it, they should put it back.
