UPDATE: ETSY OLD FORM NOT NECESSARILY GOING AWAY ON THE 25TH according to Etsy Support today.

Jump to solution

This is a current update to previous posts about the ongoing issues with listing new shop inventory and the alarming drop in shop stats delivered through Etsy over the past two-plus weeks. The original post about these problems is now buried in the volume of posts, making it hard to find.  Therefore, I'm sharing this update here to ensure everyone is informed.

So many great colleagues responded to the Original Post, as they, too, were having trouble. If you haven't read this and are having problems, consider reading through the replies because everyone gave great advice on how to possibly circumvent this listing nightmare.

So, I decided to start a new post here so that this information is accessible to those who are interested.

The news: I contacted Etsy Support today.  I have been able to list for the past few days without problem but now my Visits and Views stats are dramatically, significantly, down.  This happened once before to my shop when Etsy was first working on the New Form about a year ago.  Then, it all went back to normal eventually, but not after weeks of loss when my shop was not being picked up by Etsy's search engine.

The support representative I spoke with was based in the Philippines and had some difficulty with English. It was evident that she was not well-versed in computer issues, as she primarily read from a script provided by Etsy. This communication further highlighted the need for more comprehensive support in addressing these issues.

The bottom line is that when I brought up my previous complaints about not being able to list new inventory without a "Hmmm..." error message, she told me to use The Old Form.  I reminded her that The Old Form was permanently being removed tomorrow, as stated prominently by Etsy's banners!

The bottom line:  You all will likely not be surprised by this, but Etsy is (kinda sorta officially stating, she said) that The Old Form will LIKELY NOT go away tomorrow and they don't know when or if this will happen anytime soon because the engineers (Product Support/Technical Support) have not updated anyone in Etsy Support about this.

Also, my opinion:  Please consider calling in to report your low stats if you're having these issues! Only registered complaints will get noticed, I strongly believe.  I did file a complaint about this and asked for this to be reported to the Technical Support.  When she hedged, I stated that I would like a copy of the Ticket Number.  I don't think that Etsy Support people take the time to write out a ticket when someone calls in. I was advised about this early on by another Etsy Support person who was adamant that one has to ask for a Ticket.

I also made sure to get a ticket number AND I made the Support person read back what she wrote on the ticket which I will add was quite correct, appropriate, and professional.  Then, if you call back in with the same complaint, refer to this ticket again and get an update.

Gosh, I hope this helps in some small way!  Sending kind wishes to everyone!

Seeing that sellers were unable since Friday to change their listings' prices while using the new form I do hope that this is indeed true.

Someone came up with a workaround, but we shouldn't have to constantly struggle to figure out workarounds to make up for the new page's failures.

Plus, there would be many who wouldn't know about the workaround and who would be majorly ... ummm... upset.

Thank You for your Update. It also sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

I wish it would go away.  I hate the old template.  I prefer the new completely and I dislike that Etsy makes me flip from the old to the new when I use the new exclusively.  It has been flipping my listings to the old.  Maddening.  I prefer the new..

I know there are issues but I just wish for me that Etsy would leave my listings on the new template.  They can let everyone else have the old.

Interesting... I get taken to the new listing page and have to switch back to the preferred old!

It's the opposite for me. As there's no translation option in the new form I have to use the old form and I have to switch for every f*** listing I add. I hate the new form!

Absolutely NO surprise there.

Etsy support is useless.

I was honestly hoping for this since there are so many other glitches that haven't been resolved either and kept going to the tagged admin post for an update but there's nothing since 6/14.    I wouldn't be sad if the new form ended up on the bottom of the virtual trash can anyway.    I've worked with it and just don't see how it's an improvement.

>because the engineers (Product Support/Technical Support) have not updated anyone in Etsy Support about this.

Why is Etsy so poor at communication?    I thought it was just with sellers because they don't need to chase us like they do buyers but this is ridiculous.    It seems like engineers and support teams - at the very least, tech support - would be hand in hand.

Congrats on getting thru to Etsy Support.  What number did you call?

I wonder if FIDOFLOWERS has been notified?

Etsy doesn't have a number to call.
Any phone # found online is a scam phone #.

You can request a call back through the help pages that only shows up on a few topics.
