You got scammed. It was not etsy that took your money. If you got a fake message (and believed it) that asked you to provide financial information off-etsy, there is nothing etsy can do. Etsy cannot refund the money because they did not take it.
Contact your bank or credit card immediately and report fraud.
Moving forward, read through the forums and familiarize yourself with common scams. If a message is not in the "from etsy" section of your inbox, it is a SCAM.
For future, any messages that are truly from Etsy will appear in your Shop Manager>Messages in the section named 'From Etsy' which appears third from the top under Inbox and Order Help Requests. If not there, the message is NOT from Etsy even if it shows in your inbox (anyone can send messages to your inbox). This section does not appear in the app, so check your messages on the Etsy site in a browser. There are many scammers online these days and they have been especially targeting new Etsy sellers.
I am sorry that this happened to you. Be careful everywhere online.
@LavandaNaturale These messages were from people pretending to be Etsy. The messages were NOT from Etsy. Sadly, I do not think you will get your money back.
Messages from Etsy will be in you Inbox AND in the "From Etsy" section of Messages. Read this: https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899

You need to contact your card provider,
let them know you have been scammed in a phishing scam
Cancel your card, and get a new one.
Depending on the terms of your card, your card may cover this fraud.
It is not anything to do with etsy, you have to contact your card provider.

Grazie. La banca ha bloccato tutto. Oggi hanno tentato di farlo di nuovo. Ho bloccato e inserito i messaggi tutti come spam.
@LavandaNaturale I'm so glad your bank blocked it and you did not lose money.
That's good news
Ma come può essere che etsy non sia in grado di gestire la sua propria piattaforma di messaggi ??
E' chiaro che il problema è all'interno della struttura, qualcuno che ci lavora dentro.
E' capitato anche a me. Ladri...
Anyone can send you messages, that is what they are there for, for anyone,
just like you get scam messages in e-mail, that your e-mail provider doesn't pick up,
some get through
....
you need to contact your card/bank, as you went offsite to a non-etsy site, and paid someone you didn't know, money for nothing.
Depending on your card/bank, they may cover fraud.
....
etsy says this under EVERY message
To stay protected, stay on Etsy. Never follow links to other sites, and don’t share contact, account, or financial info with anyone in Messages. Learn how to spot spam.
you can no longer click that message away, so do what it says.
and read - Learn how to spot spam - which says, right at the beginning, if the message isn't in the "From Etsy" folder AS WELL as the inbox, it's not from Etsy
the message was from "etsy support", and into the inbox folder...
The true is that you're not able to protect your own platform and your subscribers, or ... the fraud comes from the inside...
The message has to be in the "From Etsy" folder, as well as the inbox
all messages go in the inbox, only etsy messages are in the "From Etsy" folder AS WELL.
did you check BOTH places?
....
scammers make up names, pretending to be etsy,
like scammers make up names through e-mail, pretending to be your e-mail provider, or electric company, etc.
...
Etsy says don't click on links that take you off etsy, so don't
the fraud is because you fell for a non-etsy scammer
the whole thing happened INTO the etsy app, not on links outside of the platform
and therefore you'd better check and clean your house, instead of accusing others of getting scammed.
THIS one would be the behavior of a serious entrepreneur, and NOT not discharge the responsibility onto others
anyone can contact you through messages - anyone
the fact it's the app or through a browser does not matter
a scammer contacted you, the message was in the inbox, not in the "From Etsy" folder
you clicked on links in that message that took you OFF etsy, .... which etsy says NEVER to do
and you paid money to an account you did not know, and authorised it, which etsy also tells you NEVER to do.
You need to contact your bank, and claim the money back as a fraudulent transaction (that had absolutely nothing to do with Etsy)
