I occasionaly hand deliver custom made items from my shop to customers who live near me. There is no tracking number since they are not shipped by a common carrier. I've lost my 100% rating for tracking because I cannot seem to find a way to update information about a recent delivery. Can anyone help me, after the fact, to get my rating back?
Pick up and deliveries don't count for Star Seller.
@BebeClassique: If you have not yet done so, you might want to read https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000338067-How-to-Offer-Local-Pickup-or-Delivery?segment=s...
Will local pickup orders be part of my evaluation for a Star Seller badge?
All physical listing orders must include a valid tracking number or a shipping label purchased on Etsy to be considered for a Star Seller badge. At this time, we’re unable to make exceptions for local pickup orders.
This also applies to delivery orders.
Without a valid tracking #, how would you ever be able to prove you actually shipped (delivered) the order? This is exactly what Etsy requires for meeting the Star Seller metrics … it is also required for Seller Protection. Any buyer who picks up their order or you deliver to them, can easily file a no -receipt claim, and Etsy will fully refund them, and your seller account will get dinged. For less than 70-cents, you can send your delivered buyer a thank you note via Etsy labels which includes free tracking and counts towards the SS program. If SS is that important to you, then why would you never do this?
Since you are in the US you have the advantage of being able to buy a letter rate stamp through Etsy Labels for around 60c. Create a receipt for the order and print two copies, have the customer sign both copies to verify pick up or delivery. Keep one for your records, and post the other to the buyer. while it isn't actually tracked, it does satisfy Etsy's requirements for shipping.
This only works for US, those of us in other countries have to choose between meeting Star Seller requirements or our customer's needs. Badge or no badge, my customers come first.
@TBQSC I did that once. The buyer lived à few blocks from me and wanted the item asap.
It didn't cost me much !
