I am in the UK and being told 'the VAT ID you submitted does not match the UK VAT database'. This has been going on for 13 days, have spoken with Etsy every day and they cannot fix it. I have spoken with HMRC and confirmed that the VAT ID is correct, the government website confirms it's correct. We have over 10,000 sales, getting around 100 sales a day and it needs to be fixed. We are being told we will be suspended in 47 days. We can't pay our bills if they suspend my shop. Has anyone had this issue and managed to get a resolution?

Everything has to match exactly the information supplied when you registered. If the name is slightly different for example it will be rejected.
Here are some Etsy articles:
How to Add or Update Your VAT ID – Etsy
How to Provide Your VAT Certificate to Etsy – Etsy
yes everything is exact
Read the articles anyway if you haven't already.
i have read through them over and over to double check
i am a sole trader so in the UK my VAT ID is registered to my own name, not my business name, which matches my full name on the legal shop informaiton. My home address matches exactly, and my VAT ID matches exactly. We have confirmed with our tax department that it is correct.
you can do the check etsy does
don't forget, you have to put the GB in front for etsy, with no spaces.
the check is here

What is your VAT number?
Note to anybody objecting: UK law requires sellers to display their VAT registration number publicly, this is not confidential info.

Yep, that's the correct format, GB and no spaces, and verifies with your full name (including middle name) as the registered business name. You have not completed your seller details so I cannot check that the name and address content matches.
We have included the Etsy shop name on our VAT registration as one of our trading names. You can modify the trading name online if you log in to your HMRC VAT account. I'm not sure that it is essential as it does not appear on our verification, just Clare's name as the business name.
Verify ours to compare: GB944441227.

Make sure that you have entered with GB in uppercase on Etsy, the HMRC verify does not work with lowercase gb.

We have GB at the beginning in capitals, no spaces. Full name and middle name is included.
Where do I update seller details?
@WisdomWonderDesigns Go to Edit Shop and scroll right down to the bottom to put in seller details.
Shouldn't mean the VAT ID doesn't work though?
Maybe

I have updated this and can assure that my address matches. I don't share my address publicly online where it can be helped due to personal reasons, but Etsy have my address so it doesn't need to be public for Etsy to confirm. It is correct in my VAT ID section
To sell online legally in the UK
you have to give your address, and e-mail address, for everyone to see
on etsy, that is in sellers details
personal reasons do not count,
The law says you have to provide this, for everyone to see, before they buy
if you won't do this, then don't sell online
the law says this has to be shown, to everyone....
(c)the geographical address at which the trader is established and, where available, the trader’s telephone number, fax number and e-mail address, to enable the consumer to contact the trader quickly and communicate efficiently;
Hello, do you have some result from your problem? I have the same problem, but nobody from Etsy team solve the problem.
Thank you so much for your reaction
if you have an eu vat number, put cz in front of it, and put it in the VAT id field,
If you have an ICO number, scroll down to - additional taxpayer ID
add taxpayer id
click the down arrow and choose
czech republic(ICO) ... and enter it there
