Anyone else with this problem? I have been a star seller since the beginning. But because I don't have tracking for one purchase which a customer came and picked up because they are local - my star seller has been taken away - Etsy support says there is nothing they can do about it - What nonsense ! So if someone lives around the corner I have to ship the item ? Ridiculous !
Sorry about that, Local Pickup doesn't count because there is no Tracking of course. What some Sellers are doing is mailing the Invoice and plugging the Tracking No. into the space. Be aware forever, if someone claimed they didn't receive the item, it could be a problem.
Thanks for the reply ! To me it seems that if Etsy can pay for commercials on tv that they can figure out a better computer program for its sellers.
Local deliveries can't be tracked so they can't be counted in Etsy's star system. Unfortunately it's a very simplistic program. I've lost the star for this before. My shop didn't seem to experience a change in traffic after the loss.
Now, my current 100% on time shipping and tracking has dropped to 96% for an item which was shipped with tracking assigned. But the post office didn't add any documentation so the order shows in pre transit even though it's been delivered. This is not something I can control. I'll likely loose the star in upcoming months due to this too.
There are also many strong sellers who will never achieve a star seller status due to a plethora of reasons. Because of this I personally don't pay attention to it.
Thanks so much Nancy, I appreciate your answer ! Crazy that because of one package with no tracking they dropped it. I had even refunded the shipping.

@pinkwisteriadesigns - How would Etsy have proof the buyer picked up the package?
Hi , because I marked it as compete
Unfortunately, marking an order as complete is not proof an item was received by a buyer.
Etsy needs proof of delivery through a tracking number.
I don't think this will change.
There are ways to do this. However as others shared this will make not make a difference on Etsy with seller, buyer protections nor with the star program. There is no way for Etsy to track this. It will absolutely assist if there is a claim of non receipt so I feel it's worth sharing. I've used these services in the past when I didn't personally know a buyer. The package can be dropped off at a local shipping store. They can hold the package for local pickup. A formal receipt of pickup will be required with a buyers signed signature.
I use a local PostNet office which also does noteries. They have great pick-up receipt forms which require a photo ID and signature. They also have cameras which show who has entered the business. Again, this will not assist with the star program. But it can help with protecting a local delivered item which will need to be handled outside of Etsy.
