This afternoon I got an order, I immediately messaged buyer and asked them to check and confirm the delivery address, which they did immediately, with a cheery message.
Now 8 hours later I get an email from Etsy to say Etsy have cancelled this customer's order, and sent a full refund.
Below is what the email said.. remember, I'm the SELLER, and at the bottom it says [Removed by moderation] I didn't purchase it in the beginning, because I'm the SELLER!!!

UPDATE
the buyer just contacted me, and said he DID want the item, so luckily, he will re-order. So much useless stress. Oh Etsy you used to be so good.
What happened protects you the seller. You have no way of knowing if the buyer has reached their limit, their credit card was stolen or something else.
Consider it a good thing that happened.
If they re-order and the card goes through great. If they are unable to order then consider yourself lucky.
I don't know if Etsy sends a copy they sent to the buyer. It's been so long I don't remember. They got a copy.
If not it might have been a glitch for which you should have contacted Etsy by Contact us to inform them you got the email incorrectly.
Plus do not quote Etsy emails in the forums.
They sent you a copy of the message that they sent to the buyer. It clearly says Message to Buyer at the top.
If it was a stolen credit card, I would expect the scammer to confirm the delivery address. And to say they would be repurchasing.
Maybe it wasn't fraudulent, but couldn't be confirmed by the buyer's credit card company. That would explain the 8 hour delay. I guess you'll find out if they reorder and the payment clears.
This process is in place for the seller's protection. I would never complain, even if it was a mistake by the credit card company.
