Hello- my message rate has gone down because of two messages. However these weren't questions or comments from buyers, they were just "thank yous" from purchases I made. How can this be corrected?
Create a buyer only account so the messages from buyers aren't in the same inbox as messages from sellers you bought from.

Or in the future you can respond to them with something like 'you're welcome'
The metrics for star seller clearly state that it's ANY new message. Etsy doesn't read the messages to determine what the content is or whether it was from another seller.
I had that happen too. I had a message that I didn't reply to because it was spam. 🤦
All new messages require a response within 24hrs or mark it as spam. That means ALL new messages, whether they are from buyers, sellers or anyone. If you don't want your purchasing activity to mess with your SS ambitions, create a new account solely for buying and keep your purchases separate from your selling. Etsy will not correct what is not incorrect to begin with. You may think it is unfair, but the rules say you must answer and you didn't answer.
@AprilsPartyPrints"How can this be corrected?" Unfortunately there is nothing to correct because you made the decision to not reply or spam those messages. As it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such.
If the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two if the original message was within the current star seller period (but not retroactively). Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
