I have been dinged on my smooth shipping for the star seller. The only time Etsy thought I was late was when they wanted me to ship out on Columbus Day, October 10th. It is a federal holiday and the post office was closed that day. Without this mishap I would be at 100%. How do I get this fixed? I obviously can’t ship if they aren’t open.
Processing times and “ship by” dates are determined using business days and don’t include weekends, but may include holidays. If a “ship by” date falls on a holiday, you can update the date once per order.
There is nothing to be fixed. You should have anticipated the US postal holiday and shipped the previous day, or you could have changed (pushed) the ship by date to accommodate the holiday. Etsy has provided the tools to do such, and expects you to use them in this situation.
Keep track of upcoming holidays because Etsy doesn't take into account US mail holidays.
If an item is scheduled to ship on a holiday, you can push out the ship date.
@JNVintageTreasures: When a shop receives an order and realizes that they cannot ship on before the scheduled ship by date (for whatever reason including postal holidays) they need to appropriately update the ship by date in a timely manner.
Etsy doesn't account for holidays in any country but provides sellers with the tools to manage their own dispatch dates. Either extend your processing time or change the dispatch date on individual orders. It's always been this way.
