Star Seller: On-time Shipping and Tracking Incorrect
I completed a custom order which started on August 1, but our final discussion about the order was not until August 8. I completed and shipped the order on August 8 and the buyer received it on August 11, which is the date she requested. I wasn't sure how to change the shipping date on the custom listing, so it shows I did not fulfill it on time. This is the only badge that has not been granted for Star Seller status. How can this be corrected?
Since you did not extend the shipping date, nothing can be done.
You have to ship by the date you say you will, on the listing
If you agree with the customer, before the ship-date, to delay the date, you can extend it once
If you don't, it is late shipping, and you can't do anything about it.
I did ship it by the date I agreed to in the custom order message. The buyer was unsure what she wanted to do, so the order was not accepted until the day she made her decision and I shipped it out that day, as well.
It seems as if there should be some leniency with customer orders, especially when the order wasn't actually late. It affects Star Seller status, which means less sales for me the following month.
The order was accepted the day they bought and paid for it.
That is the legal situation.
you have to ship on the date you have on the listing, when they pay,
If you agree a different date, before the ship date, you can change it.
"I wasn't sure how to change the shipping date on the custom listing, so it shows I did not fulfill it on time...."
Next time you aren't sure how to do something like this you can search the Help Center or just come here to the forums and ask. Most of us are happy to help if we are able to. Unfortunately there is no way to "fix" it now since you didn't adjust the ship by date before it was overdue. Etsy won't do anything to "fix" it or make any adjustments to anything Star Seller.
For future reference- this help center page has info and instructions about how to extend a ship by date. https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015588087-How-to-Set-Processing-Times-and-Ship-By-Dates?s...
"How to update the “ship by” date for an order-
You can edit the “ship by” date once, as long as the original "ship by" date hasn't passed, and the buyer has agreed to the new date.
To update the “ship by” date for an existing order:
sadly I'm going through something similar ~
I entered the wrong tracking number on 2 orders. This was on Fri. I realized it when checking the status of the delivery on Sunday. The interface wouldn't allow me to edit in the correct tracking number. I sent the correct tracking numbers to the buyer, a link to the usps tracking page ( showing it in transit ) as well a photo of the receipt. I sent the same to etsy in an email. They will not edit in the correct tracking number and I'll now lose my seller star status come Sept.
this is what I was told :
In order to maintain on time shipping score, the tracking details have to update on file at the first attempt that is on or before the Original Ship-by Date. So, even though you update the tracking details after Original Ship-by Date, they won't help you in correcting the on time shipping score.
some people say you have 72 hours to correct tracking errors / edit. but really all you can do is add package, which allows you to enter a new tracking number. but doesn't save your ss status
My advice to myself. Get new glasses.
My advice to you, Don't make ANY mistakes here. There is little recourse.
So, even though you update the tracking details after Original Ship-by Date, they won't help you in correcting the on time shipping score.
It has always been the case, that if we updated the tracking number, it changed the ship-by date, to the date we changed it,
so if we change it after the original ship-by date, it will be late, it's not new, it's always done that, and it would have always dinged our quality score.
Because of star seller, more people might notice it now.
