I have been able to maintain my star seller all of 2022 and my message response time is always 100%. I recently got a new phone and didn't get a notification that I had an Etsy message sent to me. Because I don't get a lot of messages from people, this ONE time being slow to respond dropped my percentage from 100% to 67%! Is there anything that can be done to bring it back up? I can't magically make people contact me..... especially when I'm a seller that doesn't get a lot of complaints ... and that's a good thing. The end of the month is approaching and that is the ONLY thing holding me up from getting Star Seller again.
@LavenderCupCottage : When you say on your phone, do you mean an Etsy app or via a browser. If you check this forum you will see innumerable issues with the apps. The consensus seems to be to manage messages and orders via a (desktop) browser not the app. At least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered message as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two if the original message was within the current star seller period.
For all we complain about Etsy they have been very clear and consistent about messages / convos from the very beginning. Just to clarify so people don't think they have to respond to every message and it will be a never ending loop: the FIRST message of a NEW thread must be replied to within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such. Those have always been the rules. By the way, if you are creating a custom listing based on the message, you still need to reply to the message. Etsy is now putting a blue text warning / advisory on those messages they consider to be a "new message".
Hello, and welcome to the Etsy Community Forums!
We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. You can check it out here:etsy.com/starseller.
Having said that, and since this thread does not pertain to a technical issue, it will be closed to prevent it from going off-topic.
Thank you!

I ended up with two messages about the same item from one person..... I replied to one of the messages instead of both because it was the same person. My rating dropped from this too! When I messaged the person regarding their inquiry, they didn't reply back for over a month
@TheBeardieQueen the guidelines are all new messages must be answered. It's in teh guidelines
Always visit your shop daily via computer rather than relying solely on a phone. The app can be spotty and servers don't always deliver messages.
It's a good idea to visit shop once a day via computer or if you can use the Internet on your phone the web version not the app.
