Square in person sales

Hello,

I've received an email regarding syncing Square with Etsy, earn over a certain amount and get a gift card from Etsy (or words to that effect).

I have purchased a Square terminal purely to sync with Etsy and to keep track of inventory, per Etsy's suggestion and recommendation. I have not been able to sync my listings (no matter how many times I try, how many times I disconnect, sign out etc) since the summer. Is anyone else having this issue? I no longer receive any response from Etsy support when I enquire about this, so I just wondered if anyone has managed to fix this problem? I'm assuming we won't qualify for this new announcement regarding Square...

I use Square for events and I do not sync with Etsy. I make an inventory list with a spreadsheet to take with me, and I just deactivate anything that has sold. From what I read here, syncing Square with etsy results in a small fee that etsy charges when a sale is made.

There is always a problem between Etsy and Square and Etsy says it's from Square's end and Square says it's from Etsy's end but I am pretty sure it's Etsy. Yes I do the same I don't sync with Etsy either. I just connect my Square and accept payments. My in person prices are cheaper anyway because there is no Etsy fees and shipping so syncing is not working for me. Etsy only takes 20 cents for each sale.

Keep your terminal for your own purposes and forget about linking it up with Etsy.

There is nothing to be gained by doing it, and that elusive gift card isn't worth all the aggravation.

I too us it for shows and, while a bit more work, I deactivate what I take along and never have any problems.

Thank you everyone. Ok it seems I shall have to be more organised and create my own inventory list, and just forget linking the two for now. I always thought that it would help visibility by seeing specific items being sold frequently, but that was just an assumption really! Thanks for responding

I use square but I will not sync it with Etsy.  Etsy has very poor seller support. This is an issue when help is needed at an in-person event.   Most importantly, I want to promote my own work and brand, not Etsy's.  There is no need for me to pair with a e-commerce site who has no idea who I am and does not prioritize sellers. They are simply one selling platform I use.  I can see why this is beneficial for Etsy.
