Specific listings not searchable via keywords, only by searching for the exact title - word for word

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I have a few specific listings that will not appear in search results (regular search and in-shop search) when searching for them via keywords, but will show up if searching for their exact title. 

It's only impacting a few specific listings. The listings still appear on product pages as other item recommendations and my shop page (when not searching for them by keyword), and are not deactivated and can still be purchased. 

The issue is their visibility is greatly reduced as keywords can't be used to search for them.

I contacted Etsy support about it and they were able to recreate the issue on their end (i.e. trying to search for the listing by a keyword = doesn't appear in search results; copying and pasting title exactly = appears in search results), and passed it onto their investigation team, but it's been a week and I haven't received any updates/explanation yet.

It's also not just for one specific keyword for these listings - but for any of the listing's keywords.

Just wondering if anyone else has/is experiencing this (the best way to check is to search for a listing via your shop page search for a specific keyword and see if it appears. If it doesn't, copy and paste the listing title exactly and see if it shows up).

Etsy changed search a few weeks or so ago. It now uses a combo of titles, tags AND descriptions.

I don't believe it's an SEO issue because in-shop search won't display these listings when searching for a keyword within my shop. They should at least display within my shop when searched for via keywords.

@Lunnarus  i put in Collar into your shop search as you seem to have a few items with that word and nothing came up then i tried Pearl and that came up, Dainty and  Crystal worked also, but not sure why it would not like Collar!

@daisysjewellerygifts Unfortunately no keywords for those specific collar listings are working. (i.e. if you were to try a different relevant keyword for them, they still won't appear).

I just reposted one of the issue listings and it now shows up in search, but the original listing still doesn't.

If it is still happening, best thing might be to follow up with Etsy support using the same ticket/thread.

Indeed! I've been reaching out to them daily for an update as the ticket was created on their end and not mine, but unfortunately all they're able to tell me is that the investigation team is still reviewing the ticket. I've not been provided with any specific information/cause.

I see the same, results not working for words that should. I searched collar and at first there were no results, but now it seems 1 had made it through.

I did notice when I search and click that 1 listing and then I click back for just a moment a blurb flashed on the screen about Etsy translating things. It shows it under the results in the area where the listings search results would be and then disappears, if I click the listing and click back it pops up and disappears again. Maybe something with Etsy translating is broken. Not sure if that helps or may help to inform customer service but it's the only odd issue I'm noticing when trying to see what could be wrong. Nothing else seems to be out of order unless the 2mm agate bead reference is causing an issue similar to the amber bead problem going around, but I'd expect the listings removed to investigate if that were the case so probably not an issue.

Thanks for checking and for the feedback! I saw that box pop up briefly as well, but it didn't stay long enough to see what it said before it disappeared. I'll pass this information onto support I guess. I'm not sure the blue lace agate would be the issue as most of our listings have this, but good to keep in mind.

The one listing that is now making it through is a brand new listing I just posted (a copy of one of the broken ones), to test if that would work.

There is to many issues right now with Etsy, the web Etsy and the App and really hope they all get sorted out before the Christmas rush starts.
