Spam or not?

Hello everyone,

This morning I found this message in mail box....

===========================start=====

An appeal requiring an immediate response!

Hello! It looks like your bank details are outdated and payments for orders are not reaching you.

• To update them, you need to send us your e-mail in a reply message in the chat to create a request.
• After that, you will receive an email and act according to the instructions.

Otherwise, your account will be blocked within 24 hours from the moment the email is sent to you.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Etsy

==============End=====

Is this spam? or not?

Re: Spam or not?

Would you give out that information if someone called saying they were Etsy and asking for that information? Why trust a stranger that wrote an email?  Do not respond to emails asking for information, go to the site they say they are from and ask there if they need any more information from you.
Step back and think about it. What information have you already given Etsy? They already have all the information they need. If they need more they will use their message system and it will be in the folder marked from Etsy, or something like that. Yes, it’s a scam, one that has been talked about for months now.

Re: Spam or not?

This is a scam. Send the message to spam. Thieves are pretending to be Etsy staff. This scam has been ongoing since at least July 2023. Messages from Etsy will show up in your mailbox titled "From Etsy".

Real Etsy staff will never ask for your email address because they already have it. Also, any actual orders will show up on your dashboard. If the sale is not displayed on your dashboard, you don't have a sale.

Don’t respond or provide any personal or financial information. Don't click any links that take you off the Etsy site.

If you have provided any financial information, immediately contact your bank to report fraud on your account!

Make it part of your daily routine to visit the forums. You can learn about ongoing concerns, problems, glitches, and scams. Stay informed!
