Spam/Phishing within Etsy Messages?

I got an message from "Etsy Stuff", but I find no way to report this or ban the user.

Yes, we see numerous posts about this every day!  Etsy knows about it and because of this they have put a new link in your message center that says "from Etsy". If it does NOT appear there the message is NOT from the real Etsy.

And BTW--The sender "Etsy stuff" alone should be a tip off. Etsy STAFF would never call themselves Etsy "stuff"!

I realize the OP is not English speaking as first language but there should still be be a vast difference, even in the translation.

Etsy really should have a way to report these since it would shut them down faster.  One way would be to add mark as scam in addition to mark as spam.  Or they should monitor the spam marked messages to find these people.  They are damaging etsy's reputation which is already problematic.

We have all been saying this for weeks on end now. They did create that "from Etsy" section in messages but I think it is too subtle and not enough people see it.

The "Spam" section would be great if it ever happens.

@michellepatterns Etsy is shutting them down within minutes of finding them spamming messages.  Not much else they can do,  Many have reported trying to answer within seconds of getting only to find they can't because Etsy removed the account

Thanks, so I got it right. But I wondered, that I haven't found a spam Button.

Now the sender is marked as "removed".

The spam button is not available on the app, I believe, which makes no sense.

But if the scammer's profile is removed, then you may not be able to mark it as spam anyway. Check to see on the web version rather than the app.

There is an option to 'mark as spam' on the etsy shopping app and the full site on desktop/laptop or browser. They omitted the 'mark as spam' option on the sellers app for some dumb reason. I just use the etsy shopping app to 'mark as spam' if I'm away from my computer otherwise I use my pc for most things etsy. The sellers app is simply too limited and glitchy.

I just received a message this morning from “Etsy Support” in German saying there was an is with a product I was purchasing from a supplier and I needed to contact the directly to make payment.  It has all the hallmarks of phishing.  With this thread I see it is a recurring issue.
