Over the past couple of days, I've sold 5 previously sold and inactive items with no inventory. Thankfully, my customers have been gracious. A few accepted substitutions and the rest were refunded. I'm sure it made them question the integrity of my shop. I have reported the issue via chat and was told by the rep that it's a known issue but she could not provide a resolution date. That satisfied me until I just had to refund another "phantom" purchase today. Settings appear to be correct. All items are either showing inactive with no inventory or with the listing deleted altogether. In fact, I haven't seen the items that were sold today for several months because they don't exist in my listings - inactive or otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, can you offer a possible solution that I haven't tried. I hate disappointing new customers and wasting time. TIA
Accepted Solutions

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
Yet another unresolved issue that is Etsy but makes a seller look bad. This has to stop!

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
@CypressJunction Multiple refunds are not good for your shop. I wonder if they are favoriting your items. I would go back to chat support and request a ticket to have a tech look at your shop. Are you using a computer or app?

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
They are doing it to me as well. there is no phone number or chat or support form anywhere. I'm embarrassed to tell customer that the item was already sold. I don't know what to do

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
@MasonJarsAndMoreShop - I would very graciously let your customer know that it is a glitch in Etsy's system, not yours, that is happening to others as well. Whether they believe you or not is another story, but you can try.
Yes this is a year old thread, but the fact that it is still happening is unacceptable!!

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
I had that happen last week. I had to cancel and refund. when I looked at the listing it said that I had 56 in stock!!! I sell vintage one of a kind items so I am not sure how that happened as I never touch that button while listing!

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
I had the same thing happen. I never get sales, and when I got one...it was a sold item. I had to cancel and refund.
When I asked Etsy about it, they said I had to have renewed it.
I ended up going in and deleting my sold items from the order page. Not worth going through that embarrassment again.

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
That said...I did get 6 sales in March, which put my shop on reserve.

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
how did you ask etsy? ive been trying to find a way to contact them for hours. they are selling something that is already sold. How embarrassing for me to tell my customer that I don't have the item.

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
The same thing just happened in my shop! A customer purchased 4 separate items (yay!) but one of them was phantom, sold a while back. I've tried to contact her, but no response. Not sure if I should ship a partial order or cancel.

Re: Sold Items Being Mysteriously Sold Again
Same thing happened to me . Someone bought the same thing someone else bought last week. Now she paid for it but I don't have it. And even though she bought it ...it is still listed. Etsy won't take phone calls I tried and none of the help questions match what the issue is. I also have no chat button. This is an embarrassment to my shop
