Shipping for letter size is now more expensive than going to post office

Some items require only a 1 ounce postage stamp -- we normally get this through etsy so that the tracking is included.  It had been 53 cents, which was 4 cents less than at the post office.  Today it is showing  60 cents to purchase the same letter shipping - and this is more than the post office charges.  why is this?   

Also, how can one contact etsy?   I have followed the rabbit holes through all of "contact us" links, only to end up back at the etsy  list of help topics.

FC letter rate went up? It starts at 63 cents retail now? Etsy is charging sellers 63 cents and paying 60 cents themselves which shows up on the label. Or did they drop it to 60 cents now? There were many posts complaining about the 3 cent difference from what they got charged and the what the label showed?

Maybe due to the price rise in January? A Forever Stamp is now 63c over the counter.

I wish they'd raise the bulk mail price instead of stamp price.  Might cut down on the pile of unwanted trash we receive.

Wait, if you use etsy shipping labels you can get tracking for just 63 cents?!

If you're sending a greetings card or a sheet of stickers then yes. Although technically, as both are classed as merchandise, then no, they should go package rate and not letter rate.

Ok, I've got to look into this...although I wonder if it also applies in Canada.  I've been using chit chat to send parcels over the boarder.

It's just the price of a stamp, for a letter. I doubt any of your paintings would fit in a DL envelope.

Yes my 5x7's painted on card stock do, and when I send them within Canada I opt for no tracking because that's our only option for letter mail.  But I am taking a risk by doing that so I should look into other options.

You can’t send anything other than paper over the border lettermail. And technically it’s isn’t even allowed for stickers and such. Commercial packages should have a customs declaration.

A stamp currently costs 63 cents, which is what Etsy is charging.

It had cost 57 cents for at least a year, up until the rates went up a couple of weeks ago.

Is your post office charging you less than 63 cents for forever stamps? Maybe they don't know that the price went up.

@CuddleBugStudio To mail a letter the price went up in January.  It's now 63 cents retail and commercial.  

If Etsy is charging 60 cents then they got that from their contract with USPS through Pitney Bowes.

If you don't want star seller add a stamp and send it as long as the item is under $10.00.

If you want star seller you will have to use letter format on Etsy labels.

Your choice.
