Shipping address not verified

When purchasing Etsy shipping labels, I nice a lot of the addresses are not showing verified (or unverified for that matter). Is anyone else seeing this?

I don't think its an issue with the address at all. It's happening to most of my orders.

There is something flaky going on with the USPS verified not showing up. I looked at my past 17 orders & only 2 had the "verified" icon. That seemed really unlikely. Several orders were from repeat buyers. So I looked at "past" orders & the badge shows up on all orders. So it looks like the icon isn't showing on the main order page, but if I click the "Order History" button, the icon then shows up. So it looks like a tech issue, not an issue of whether the address is actually verified or not.

Sometimes it just means that something like Street needs to be St.  USPS database for addresses is exact.  It doesn't do fuzzy logic.  So see if making some changes then allows it to be verified.  

I check either the USPS database directly or I use Google to check.  Most times it is small changes that will allow for verification.

If the address is way off, contact the buyer and ask.  You can extend the shipping date.

this isn't what this is.  This is where the addresses just don't say verified or unverified.  Today it has happened probably on 75% of my orders.  The other 25% have said verified except one that said not verified which in that case it was what you are mentioning where I had to change DRIVE to DR.

This is a bug with Etsy, as it's verified until you go to print postage. If you go to edit, and fix nothing, then hit save, it verifies then.

This is happening to most of my orders as well. I click edit, then scroll down to save and it gets 'verified', no corrections needed. A lot of extra clicking though.

interesting.  I may do that on the remainder of the orders I'm filling today just so I can know for sure it's verified.  I just assumed the ones missing the info were fine but good to know I can check.

I do wonder why some of my orders are showing it and then some were not.

I did the same thing.  Something is off -- techs must have changed something that they aren't automatically verified, or show errors.  Once you click Edit and Save the Verified or other suggestions show up.

It has been happening on most of my orders today.  I figured it was just a glitch and I didn't worry about it much.  The first one I noticed I did think it was odd that it didn't say verified or not verified so I googled the address and everything looked normal so when it happened again on the next order I thought I'm sure it's fine and when it happened again on the next order I was like yeah this is likely a glitch.

Don't use Etsy labels so cannot speak top the process there. but elsewhere on Etsy there are (a seemingly increasing number of) failing calls to endpoints that populate parts of an Etsy page. For example, for us there is currently a 50 / 50 chance of whether or not the calculated shipping data will be displayed on an order or if it will just be a blank space.

this doesn't really have anything to do with etsy labels exactly.  If you look at your order page where you see the customer's address it will usually show verified or unverified.  

On the majority of my orders it isn't showing anything but on a few it is still showing like normal.

It's very weird.

It could be that if you use pirateship that when you go to purchase the label there it shows the info but in general on etsy (on both the order page and when you go to purchase the label)  it's not showing for some orders.

Unverified addresses using Etsy labels was one of the reasons I switched to Pirateship. It was stressful and time consuming when they would pop up. It sounds like they have only gotten more numerous of late.

this isn't the problem the OP is talking about.  It's not that the addresses are showing unverified.  It's that they aren't showing either verified or unverified.

But as someone else mentioned the solution in this case is to simply click edit and then without changing anything click save and then the info shows.  All of my packages that I have done that to so far have been verified so it's been fine and it's a quick fix.

There is something wonky going on with the verified badge showing inconsistently. If I look at the Order History of repeat buyers, every other shipping address for them is missing the icon, even though it is the same address on each order.

Etsy already makes it difficult to see the Verified badge, making us click to even see it in the first place! Now it shows inconsistently. PirateShip will auto-correct addresses, but you need to watch carefully because they can sometimes remove apartment numbers from labels.

Just chiming in... this is happening to me also. I discovered that clicking Edit, changing nothing, then clicking Save resulted in "Verified" address confirmation. Very much a bother! Extra clicking and checking, just what we need, right?

Most of my orders are doing this... still... but I noticed that one was marked as unverified before I clicked into it, but I went in and double checked it anyway. It was a verified address after all. I think this started for me a week ago. Maybe around the time they changed up the shipping processing thing they were doing. I remember thinking that they must have broken that feature when they made that big change. I don't even know if the verified part is actually correct anymore now!
