This can mess with the automated shipping charges the customer is charged.

Re: Shipping Box Size auto picking wrong
It sounds like you're using calculated shipping. If you have particular box sizes you want to ship with, you can edit your Package Preferences.
Here's a short help article: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/6167
The box sizes that are currently being shown for orders using calculated shipping are just suggestions -- you can change them and use different ones. If you update your package preferences to only use the boxes you have, then we'll only use those when calculating shipping costs.
Hope that helps!

Re: Shipping Box Size auto picking wrong
I am a little confused.
Most of the time when we sale an item it does put it in a box that we have listed as one of our box sizes under Package Preferences. We do not have the "Use common Etsy package sizes" button checked, but we do have about 15 different box dimensions listed under that which we have set up. Our items also all have a weight and dimension in their description.
It almost always puts sales in the correct package size, even when multiple items are purchased at the same time for one customer.
This time is just put the item in the "Package" that is the exact same size as the item dimension we have entered for the item, which is not one of our custom package size options we have entered.
I think we are doing everything the article says to do??? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Shipping Box Size auto picking wrong
Similar problem here. We pre box items. The size and weight are then entered to put it online. I have noticed several times that when a customer buys an item and I go to print a label it has changed the box size on me. I edit the size before printing, but rate does not seem to change. What is going on?

Re: Shipping Box Size auto picking wrong
Just a thought, it might have something to do with it being an international shipment/purchase.
That seems to be the only thing different about this one not working correct.
Thanks for what y'all do!

Re: Shipping Box Size auto picking wrong
@4SistersVintage You're supposed to enter ITEM SIZE not BOX SIZE in the listing when you use calculated shipping. If you're entering box size, calculated shipping puts it in the next larger sized box in your Package Preferences, instead of the right box.
Next time you have an issue, please start your own thread, instead of posting on a zombie thread that is 6 years old, like this one. Etsy info changes fairly frequently. Threads become outdated in much less than 6 years.
