Search visibility notice when there's nothing wrong with the listing

Jump to solution

I have a notice on my dashboard about search visibility for one currently listed item, it tells me to "Update category".

When I click the notice from the dashboard, it has not only NO category, but NO photos, and NO shipping.  But when I click on it from the listings page, there is nothing missing. Besides which, you can't publish a listing in the first place without those things, and this listing is already active. And this is in the full browser version on my laptop. It's not that I don't want to fix a listing that has a problem, but I don't want a notice when there's nothing wrong and I can't make the notice go away without "fixing" things that are already there depending on where I click the listing from.  Help! Why am I getting this notice?

ETA, and now I don't see any photo at all showing on the listing page. How is that even possible? It's currently listed in my shop.

ETA2, LOL, what the heck, there ARE NO PHOTOS and when you click from my shop on the front end, nothing shows, and it says it ships everywhere but doesn't ship to your country. I am going to deactivate it, there is clearly more going on here than just updating the category.

I have solved it! Although it's still potentially a bug due to this listing actually existing. When I listed it, a second ghostly copy with no information in the listing was somehow created as well. There is a real, fully functional listing of the same thing, which is what I clicked on and why I was confused.  The ghost listing caught the eye of the search visibility bot. I have deleted the ghost listing and I have no more notice on my dashboard.
