Search Within Shop

Is anyone else having this issue?

When searching within your own shop - with the search bar over your sections - under "Items" where it says "Search Items" - this should allow you to search the items in YOUR shop only. So if a customer wants to see if you offer other things that they need they can get it all in one place. For us, this isn't working and is only pulling up a small fraction of what it should. If I search "Place Cards" it is pulling up 7 listings (some aren't even place cards). If I search "Place Cards" in my dashboard listings page, 2 FULL PAGES pull up. So what is that, 40 listings? Out of 40, less than 7 are showing.

HELP! This is actually a big issue. And possibly a deeper issue than what it seems.

Re: Search Within Shop

I can't see your dashboard but is it showing active, sold out and expired? Or possibly it's counting multiples in the same listings?

Re: Search Within Shop

Not in the dashboard. From the shop home page where you can search - as a customer would - within your own shop for certain items. Above your shop sections where you can search within the shop. I don't know why it's so hard to explain LOL

From a customer's perspective searching within a shop. Not the top search bar, but the lower one.

Re: Search Within Shop

That's strange.

I just tried to replicate it and, for the search term I used, I got 29 results on my listings page and 32 results in my shop search.

So, the opposite of your results. But why don't they match?

Re: Search Within Shop

It's not happening on all of our listings - only certain key words it seems. But the listings it is happening to I cannot pull up at all. It might take some digging for you to be able to replicate in your shop.

Re: Search Within Shop

I wonder if this is somehow tied to the shadow banning that was being discussed a few days ago?

Like, according to several sellers, their listings with the word 'sexy' did not show up in search.

Re: Search Within Shop

I'm trying to figure out some kind of pattern or logic with what isn't showing and I can't! I definitely don't use the word sexy lol

Re: Search Within Shop

We sell champagne glass place cards tags and champagne wall shelves - if I type "champagne" in, neither show. If I type shelf in - no champagne shelves. And these also stopped selling suddenly.

Re: Search Within Shop

Hey, did you check if it is related to keywords / description or listings titles ?

I guess the easiest for the customer in that case would be to use the "Sections" ?

Re: Search Within Shop

My "place card" listings say "place cards" in all 3 places, etc.

They should be able to use search regardless of sections. But I just noticed our "sections" button is messed up in the listing editing page, too.

Re: Search Within Shop

If I search "place cards" in your Shop I also only got 7 results. I'll try to think of other possible issues.

Re: Search Within Shop

If I search "escort card" it all comes up in the within shop search and we are first in main search. If I search "place card" - just the 7 and not seeing anything in main search.

It's like a shadowban in my shop on certain keywords?? on only some listings???? I'm trying to piece together the logic here

Re: Search Within Shop

It can't be keyword because even the skus that I include at the end of our titles (for this purpose) aren't pulling up on SOME listings. not all. i.e. if I type NCH200 it does not pull up the place card holders. Only "escort card" pulls up the place card holders. Not the sku, though. But if I type WEW422 then that item does come up.

Re: Search Within Shop

I'm getting the same number of results for place cards as you.

I was wondering if it has to do with alcohol and the reference to a "champagne glass" or "champagne wall". When I search for "champagne" in your shop, I get only 13 results for the color champagne gold, none of your listings that include the words champagne glass or champagne wall show up. This may be just one reason for fewer results on your place card listings. When I search your shop for "champagne glass", I get one result for a Bubbly Bar Sign, again none of your champagne glass place cards show. When I search your shop for "champagne wall", I get  7 results, and again none of the champagne glass place cards are there.

Re: Search Within Shop

Yeah it makes no sense. The frequency capping would make sense but not for searching via sku ??

Re: Search Within Shop

This is so curious because I am having the exact same problem with the exact same words and so I googled it and found your post. "Place Cards" shows up nowhere, not in my shop or on Etsy, yet "Escort Cards" show up everywhere. What on earth could this issue be?

@StudioNellcoteDIY @ZCreateDesign

Try removing the word 'escort' from your listings. It seems those listings only get returned in search if someone is searching specifically for 'escort'.

Re: Search Within Shop

I get 6 results for a shop search of "place cards".

It looks like you have been hit by the mature listings shadowban, and the keyword does appear to be "escort".

Using a mature trigger keyword  in the shop (or marketplace) search allows shadowbanned listings to be shown in results.

Searching your shop for "escort place cards" returns 66 results for me, indicating that "escort" is the trigger.

Try removing "escort" from the title, but you should be able to keep it in the tags.

We have a couple of mature listings that use shadowbanned keywords. My testing has shown that Etsy only shadowbans these listing when the trigger keyword is in the title, it does not shadowban when the same keyword is in the tags. I just checked and this is still the case.
