Search Results Test? - Highest/Lowest Workaround eliminated 😲 ???

So I don't know if this is just a glitch? Or a new test? Or just one more hurdle, one more life challenge, one more cross to bear??

While it's not a perfect solution, I've gotten used to sorting search results by "Highest" or "Lowest" to at least partially weed out some of the irrelevant results. Imagine my surprise when those sorts return the exact same number of results as "relevancy".  

VERY discouraging. I don't know what's going on, but it just seems to be one more layer of worse and worse every couple days lately.   Maybe I need to restart my computer... or maybe me???

I still have the option to sort search results.  Sometimes instead of at the top it is down a row.

I have the option to sort... but nothing changes. Sort by Relevancy or Highest Price or Lowest Price... same number of results. Nothing is screened out or removed. Same results, just rearranged.

That was probably inevitable; the workaround might have been a bug LOL

That said, I still have the workaround.

@PlatypusDream the workaround is just to sort by something other than relevancy.

Did you try it on more than one search?

Now and then when I sort that way the number of results stays the same.

I have noticed just the opposite.  I see a bunch of items, some apply, sort to highest and there's like 8 left.  even the ones I saw that should be there are gone.

@UppNorthEh "even the ones I saw that should be there are gone" - interesting! That means that Etsy's algorithm partially met its goal. I would love to see that search.

I've done a number of searches like that, but I don't remember what I was searching for at the time.  It would have been various antiques I was trying to look up comparative pricing for a listing.

I would look through the first 2 or 3 pages and notice some items that were what I was really looking for.  Change to Highest or Lowest, and it would only show 8-30 results instead of 500-1200.  Most of the relevant items would show up in the smaller results, but a few of the only ones that were truly relevant to the search were suddenly glaringly missing.

I've seen exactly the same thing. Example only:
- First search would show 1200 items (sorted by Relevancy). Several items RELEVANT to the search were on the first page, mixed in with a ton of IRRELEVANT items
- Change sort to Highest and suddenly only 15 items. Thing is, some of those 15 were still irrelevant, and the few from the first search that WERE relevant have disappeared.

I don't recall exactly the wording of what I was searching for either.  I'm glad other people see it too though.

btw could not get back here last night.  kept getting the newest glitch, 400 bad request.

Sooo....  search is back to "etsy normal". I can sort by Highest or Lowest and once again the bulk of irrelevant RELEVANCY results have been removed.
There's just nothing stable here anymore.
