Pick up orders but no way to accurately mark that on an order. That is effecting my shipping rating

In my Etsy shop I allow some customers to pick up the item in my studio vs shipping. I am being docked on my shipping stats because there is no way to mark this on the order when the transaction/order is complete. Etsy is showing I didn’t add a tracking number. This should not effect my shipping rating. There should be a place to mark pickup. Etsy please help change this or reassess my shop shipping for those three orders you stated on my account. (jaimejofisher)

also one recent order the customer was out of town and she wanted me to wait til she got back in town so I could actually size her for her ring in person and I am getting flagged for not shipping on time.

@jaimejofisher: "... and I am getting flagged for not shipping on time." In these situations, you need to change the scheduled ship by date - just keep in mind that you can only do it once and you need to do it before the current scheduled ship by date.

Will local pickup orders be part of my evaluation for a Star Seller badge?

All physical listing orders must include a valid tracking number or a shipping label purchased on Etsy to be considered for a Star Seller badge. At this time, we’re unable to make exceptions for local pickup orders.

This also applies to delivery orders.

Orders that are picked up by your customers or delivered to them, don't count for Star Seller. That is stated in the rules. I'm sorry this has happened to you, but we are all sellers in the here in the forums, so I'm afraid posting here won't do too much to get that changed.

@jaimejofisher That problem is just one of the many flaws in the star seller system. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.  Good customer service, good products and good reviews are the things that count - not little purple kindergarten stars.

Send them a small mailer with tracking. Put their receipt or a thank-you note in it.

Etsy is pretty clear about how that impacts star seller bits here in the Help Center article about Star Seller https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller-?segment=selling

"What if I offer local pick-up or delivery for my items?- At this time, orders that don't have tracking because they are delivered or picked up in person will be considered shipped without tracking, and will not meet the Star Seller criteria for shipping."

@VooVooDesign suggested a great solution to the tracking number issue above.

Re: the late shipping order- Next time update the ship by date before the order is overdue. You can update/extend the ship by date once and for a max of 3 weeks (21 days). You need to update it before it's late. Etsy provides sellers with tools to deal with most things, it's up to us to use them.

Since you are in the US you have the option to purchase a letter rate label fir around 60c.  You can have the buyer sign a receipt when picking up the order.  Use the letter label to post a copy of that receipt to the buyer after pickup, and keep the original as proof of receipt in case of dispute.

Those of us outside the US are not so lucky.  We must choose between providing actual customer service, or meeting Etsy's misguided idea of customer service.  I choose my customer every time.  The badge is not worth it.
