Just in the past week I have had several unsolicited emails via etsy from people wanting to buy my etsy account and also where I was told my account was going to be suspended unless I gave them 300£.
Please Etsy it would be a really good thing if we could block people There is no way to report anyone either so we are wide open to extortion and scams.
Mark those kinds of things as Spam, which also reports it to Etsy. Etsy will then block them fairly quickly. Unfortunately, scammers are all over the internet, not just on Etsy. They tend to target places where they know there will be new sellers who may not have learned the ropes yet.
same, i've been getting a ton of spam lately, everytime i list a new product i get a lot of scam DMs during the first day the new listing is live
Yep's I'm getting the same. List a item and get DM's saying its been brought and to send them your email address to receive a email on what to do next.
Why i know its spam because it's not in the Etsy folder, its still a pain and never used to be this way with all the spam/scams.
It's not just new seller's they are targeting, I've had my shop six years but got spam message last weekend, luckily I read the forums every morning and see this sort of thing happening all the time. It's scary to think it's happening all the time now, please be aware these people will try anything to get your details !!!
It's noticeably more, just over the last few months, than it ever was before. I don't think I had any of these messages for the first few years I was selling here. Now, they're at least once a week and I'm not even a new seller. The scammers must be having some success or they wouldn't keep at it - I think Etsy need to do more to protect their sellers.
anyone, including spammers, can sort on
"most recent" in searches
they probably target shops that have few reviews, as they are newer shops, but if they start to get others falling for it too, then they will target those as well,
