Resolve Re-verification Issue

I have recently been asked to verify my Legal and Tax Information. However, my account was previously verified, and I believe this may be a system glitch or error.

I have reviewed all the details in my account, and they are accurate and complete.

Could you please look into this and help resolve the issue? If further action is required from my side, kindly provide specific instructions.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Kim

We all got that message. If the info is correct, there is nothing to do.

Re: Resolve Re-verification Issue

@NanaLetha   Are you still getting the message?

I don't think "everyone" got it.

There was a theory that if you had more than one shop that only the shop with the most revenue would get the notice.  I did not get the notice in my highest revenue shop - so that theory doesn't make sense either....lol

Re: Resolve Re-verification Issue

@MissionKimPossible: "However, my account was previously verified ..." The ever changing laws mean that sellers need to be prepared for more (and more often) reverifications.

"Could you please look into this and help resolve the issue?" Just so you know, even if Etsy Support or the Help Pages sent you here this is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).

Re: Resolve Re-verification Issue

It is not a glitch or error. Most sellers have been asked to check or update their legal and tax information. I've been asked three times in the last few months, even though all my information is correct and nothing needs updating. Changes in laws and regulations require these updates.

@GalleryAntiques

1.  On the 3x that you were asked to update your info, did the warning go away when you complied?

2.  Were you given a viable way of providing the information?

Changes do require these updates - no one disagrees with that but when you are asked to do it and there is no method of doing it (i.e.disappearing link) it becomes sticky.

3.  I disagree that it is not a glitch or an error - unless there is SOMETHING they want from us and we are supposed to GUESS what it is.

@mommawhazelsquilts

To answer your questions in your order:

1. One was a warning on the dashboard, I can't remember, as I did not need to update anything and I cannot remember if there was a way to close (X) it. For the other two, I received an email requesting to check/update my legal and tax details, but I already knew there was nothing to update as my legal and tax details have been on my account for years.

2. Of course, there is a way to add tax and legal information, on your shop dashboard, on the left, select finances, then legal and tax information or follow the link: https://www.etsy.com/your/account/taxpayerid?ref=seller-platform-mcnav

3. They have been sending emails to sellers requesting that they check the legal and tax info/details are correct. If not, update them.

If you did not receive the email, that is down to your email provider, not Etsy. Ergo, not a glitch or error.

Re: Resolve Re-verification Issue

Nothing about this makes sense.  The information wanted is simple especially if you are an individual seller using your social security number.

If there is nothing else needed, why doesn't Etsy remove the warning from shops.

When you confirm that everything is correct, the warning SHOULD go away.

I don't buy the theory that we should just IGNORE this message - That everyone got it - they didn't.  And, that we should assume that all is well - I, for one, don't want to wake up on January 1 and find that my shop has been suspended because I didn't do something that I was asked to do and then denied the way to do it!

I firmly believe that Etsy wants something from me but I have no idea what they want - NOR CAN I FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GIVE IT TO THEM!
